anyone else?

OP posts:
Trazzletoes · 12/08/2012 06:41

Saycool just ignore sostressed. She is bored and her entire life appears to revolve around winding people up to get a reaction.

Afraid I don't regret mine either. She's amazing!

OP is there no chance at all for you in the future? I'm so sorry.

danteV · 12/08/2012 07:22

Ok I can understand when people say they regret it. Although I would never use that word.
I adore both my kids. But I have a bigish age gap. I do sometimes think about how much easier it was before I had ds but I do not regret it.
Dd was at an age where she was fairly independent. would go away with my parents for the weekend etc. Mum isn't in the best health so finds a young baby hard to deal with, so free weekends are not a luxury anymore.
But I couldn't imagine my life without ds. As he gets older it has got easier, he now sleeps so I am not knackered during the day, I have more energy for dd again. Life is returning to what it was pre ds.
I could never ever regret him.
Yes I miss the more relaxed pace we had with one older child, but he is worth every second of being busy, being tires, being stressed etc.

danteV · 12/08/2012 07:24

Incidentally, so stressed. My body has suffered and finances are much better now than when we had dd.

DuchessofMalfi · 12/08/2012 07:35

We came very close to losing DS a couple of weeks after he was born. He had a rough start. I dont regret having him for one moment. He's now a rowdy loud boisterous 3 yr old and I'm so happy he's still with us. He and DD fight like mad but she's very protective of her little brother.

nittyclitty · 12/08/2012 07:35

Sostressedsostressed
Is probably someone to ignore having read a few of her posts

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 12/08/2012 07:43

Sorry to miss the actual point of the OP. I am currently pg with our second and although he/she isn't going to enter the world until March, we're incredibly excited, and happy for DD that she will have a younger sibling. She will be 2.5 when he/she is born so it should be a fab age gap imo.

Our finances will be stretched, no doubt about it, and so will my body, but I don't regret it for a second; nor do I think that I will change my mind once the little nausea-making vomit-provoking monster baby is here.

It's interesting what Jeezypeeps said about the pregnancy curing her of PND - I feel the same. I suffered terribly with PND (and pre-natal depression) with DD, but since becoming pg it seems to have completely vanished.

I hope the OP is able to try for a second one soon, or is able to come to terms with the fact that she might not be able to have one, if that is the case.

ElephantsCanRemember · 12/08/2012 07:53

No I don't regret having DD or DS2. But I regret that I didn't think more clearly about the repurcussions (sp?). I love all 3 DC more than anything but the choices I made a few years ago mean that I am trapped (albeit only for a couple more years hopefully) in a loveless (not abusive) marriage and I can't quite believe that i ever thought having more DC would bring me the sort of family life I dreamed of. Naive? Yes. Stupid? Definitely. But regret? No.

ballstoit · 12/08/2012 08:07

Never regretted it. Nor DC3. I love watching their sibling relationship grow, as well as their individual personalities, and am very proud of my little team Smile.

FutureNannyOgg · 12/08/2012 08:12

Nope. The fallout has been fairly rough at times (my relationship was on the rocks in my pregnancy, and walking away was less of an option), but if I could undo it all I wouldn't because DS2 is just lovely, I wouldn't be without him.

We are financially worse off, and I am recovering from a 2nd emcs, but I wouldn't swap him for millions and my figure at 18!

AmberNectarine · 12/08/2012 08:17

Never regretted it, but I do sometimes think how much easier life would have been if we had only DS. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that DD does not sleep, and DS is an angel in that respect. However she is the most wonderfully sunny, smiley child I could wish for, and I am so glad we had her, lovely girl!

lecce · 12/08/2012 08:18

Well, ds2 was a very difficult baby who pretty much screamed for the first 7 months and had to be in a sling constantly and even that didn't stop him all the time. Yes, there were times, usually at 3am with him screaming his head off, when I wondered what we had done - why had we 'ruined' our 'perfect' famiy? However, that was sleep deprivation and pure frustration talking - I never truly regretted having him.

Now (3yo) he's great and, as an only child, I am thrilled and amazed to see the bond developing between the dc and find it one of the most rewarding ascpects of parenting.

icecold · 12/08/2012 08:20

Although o don't regret dd2, I do sometimes reminisce about what it wad like with just dd1. I do think there are benefits to just having 1 OP. Don't feel sad about not having dc2 Sad

Fluffy1234 · 12/08/2012 11:56

I don't regret having my 3 DC but I do regret not having DC4.

Allegrogirl · 12/08/2012 12:05

Regretted it for fleeting seconds but DD2 is such a darling I can't imagine life without her. My two DDs are nearly three years apart but adore each other and play really well most of the time.

It is hard on DH is 42 and has joint problems with chronic pain. They are both physical girls and the noise and mess are almost unbearable sometimes.

Having posts on the subject OP you shouldn't underestimate how tiring it is having two small ones running around. My two wind each other up, in a fun way, which leaves us exhausted. They are both capable of long periods of calm when on their own.

WavingLeaves · 12/08/2012 12:06

If it's any consolation, I think on a thread titled like this though you're not going to get anyone coming on to say they regret having their children, whether it's the first, second, third, or 15th.

JeezyPeeps · 12/08/2012 12:13

Saycool, here's hoping you have a similar experience to me, and that you've seen the end of your PND. Wishing you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy.

Mumblepot26 · 12/08/2012 17:38

OP, if it's positive sides to just having one, then my feeling is that I miss the intense closeness I had with DD1 before DD2 came along. As well as the carefree time we could spend one on one where she got my full attention. Life seemed a lot simpler. Not sure about details of why you can't have second, but I do really feel for you. I struggled to have second and felt sad that DD1 would be an only child. I seriously looked in to adoption, also as bad as it got i felt DD1 was the most wonderful consolation prize ever! I felt so grateful I ad at least ad the opportunity to have one child.

icecold · 12/08/2012 17:43

Really agree with the positives mumble posted-the carefree time/intense relationship/much simpler life....its more like a partnership or friendship, with just 1

It is hard to appreciate just how good that is, when you are yearning for dcmore though

KateSpade · 12/08/2012 17:49

I regret having the only child I've got now, never mind another one! Sad

epeesarepointythings · 12/08/2012 17:53

Pleas ignore sostressed - he/she has been on MN for a little while and has not said a single kind or supportive thing yet.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 12/08/2012 17:54

Thanks Jeezypeeps Thanks

KateSpade - are you all right? How old is your child?

epeesarepointythings · 12/08/2012 17:54

And I love my two girls and would not be without either of them Smile.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 12/08/2012 17:59

I have never regretted having my dd, ds was my first.
Dd is coming up to two and the house is permanently full of screaming rows which will no doubt get worse rather than better. But I could never regret having her or ds. :)

blackberryjam · 12/08/2012 18:02

No, I have absolutely no regrets. Good job really as 'baby number 2' turned out to be twins!! Only a 15 month age gap between first DC and the twins which was pretty tough for a couple of years but fine now they're older. We went on to have a 4th DC three years after twins born. All in all I feel v lucky and have no regrets whatsoever.

Pandygirl · 12/08/2012 19:15

Well I hope my mum doesn't regret having me (I am MUCH better than my older brother) Grin
