To ask for suggestions for a wedding "care bag"

Ok - I blatantly am but I'm going to do it anyway!

I'm being a bridesmaid next weekend and am planning on putting a bag in the women's toilets with stuff for all the guests to help themselves to like plasters, hair grips, safety pins, a small sewing kit, lip balm etc.

Does anyone have any good suggestions? (noting that my parents will be at this wedding so my book of "ten top positions for your one night wedding stand" is probably not appropriate!)

I did one! We had:

Tit tape
Mints
Chewing Gum
Hair grips
Nail Files
Facial Wipes
Deodorant (sounds obvious but you'd be surprised what people can forget on the big day!)
Pain killers
Plasters

Good luck!

MummytoKatie · 11/08/2012 20:39

Hey all!

Thanks ever so much. Some brilliant ideas here. I'll write a note so people know what it's for and hope that everyone gets into the spirit by just helping themselves to what they need!

OH I WAS AT A WEDDING LAST MONTH THEY HAD A BASKET OF STUFF I ASSUMED IT WAS A POSH HOTEL THING, it had tissues deodorant wetwipes some fancy soap , it had lip balms and hairspray, I wouldnt put paracetamol in though

ViviPru · 11/08/2012 23:54

Mrsj that post was epic!

sostressedsostressed · 12/08/2012 00:20

I am sorry but I would not have that at my wedding. It is all very council estate. Do not provide that service unless you have top niche end of the market cosmetics.

I would flip if one of my bridesmaid did something like that! just look pretty and enjoy the day. Ask the bride how you can make yourself useful. Don't spoil the day for her. Please.

ViviPru · 12/08/2012 00:23

Oh jesus and so it begins. That's my cue for bed.

RoomForASmallOne · 12/08/2012 00:36

Me too ViviPru

Can't seem to dodge it today.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/08/2012 00:37

Brilliant idea and lots of great suggestions. But I really would steer clear of paracetamol. What would be genius (assuming its a hotel) would be some berocca and painkillers in the morning at breakfast - but again, hand them out, please don't leave them out in case kids get hold (or PFB mothers think their kids have got hold - whole world of pain)

MrsKeithRichards · 12/08/2012 09:31

My local has a survival pack in a vending machine which includes a tampon. Condom and paracet

MrsKeithRichards · 12/08/2012 09:32

Whoops posted too quick!

I can't help thinking you shouldn't need all 3 at once!

MummytoKatie · 12/08/2012 09:41

These are great. Ok - so I think avoid the paracetemol completely. Not least because I have a pfb who is into everything at the moment so it would probably be me thinking she'dgot hold.

Stressed can you explain why you think it is council estate? Genuine question. I am very very middle class and the only person I know who comes from a council estate I met at Cambridge and is now pretty senior in the government so probably not representative. I'm just trying to do something nice which seems pretty classless to me.

Very council estate? How odd.
Anyway I think it sounds like a great idea. Are you going to put it in little wicker baskets?

lilackaty · 12/08/2012 09:57

I think it's a fantastic idea and I would be delighted if someone did it for me. Others have suggested everything I think you'll need.
What a lovely bridesmaid you are.

ZillionChocolate · 12/08/2012 11:13

I had some sun cream in there. I know that on my table, the girls used spare tights and some little drycleaning wipes for silk clothes/ties.

TenaPenny · 12/08/2012 11:19

oh ffs its a wedding

care bag?
