It's only 6 years old, surely it's not unusual for someone to be using a cot again after that length of time?!

Packed it away for ds 6 years ago and lost all the 'bits' over the course of a couple of moves. Now digging it jut for ds2. Popped into into the shop, they told me to phone the helpline.

It took them 20 minutes to answer, when they did it was 5 to 6 so I suspect that might have something to do with the guys lack of helpfulness. The cot has no name. He says they can't get parts for something so old, there fittings aren't universal and because I don't know the name - it's not got a name on it - I'm stuffed. But I should go to b and q because, and I quote, they are good for screws and stuff.

He also said I'd struggle because it's a drop side cot and no one makes them anymore because people prefer cot beds. Am I mad but don't the sides on cot beds lower too?

Tempted to duct tape u'd fucking thing together!!

I have a M&P one. We couldn't get any either, so DP got some from a DIY shop and cut them down.

BikeRaceRunningRaceNoSkiing · 09/08/2012 19:11

I had exactly the same problem about a year ago, except, annoyingly it was only one "bit" we'd lost. Crap customer service. They even denied it was one of their cots. M&P are local to me, so I was at the factory shop at their HO - no help at all. I have had a pushchair and highchair from them too. Both v overpriced and not particularly good quality. I don't really like them as an organisation.

In the end a helpful neighbour with a workshop made me a new bit.

I was hoping he was lying

When you say 'bits', do you mean all the long screws and weird annoying metal bits that they screw into to hold the thing together? (you usually have to insert them sideways and upside down into a small hole and then try and line the screw up with it. it's a nightmare - is this sounding in any way familiar?)

I have a load of spares from various cot beds and toddler beds that have long since fallen apart. You're welcome to them if it will help?

They're not M&P (combination of Mothercare & John Lewis iir) but tbh they are usually all around the same size.

Unless it is a chunk of wood, pole etc from the cot, in which case I cannot help Grin

GhostShip · 09/08/2012 20:03

If they don't make them anymore, there's nothing else they can do. They're not manufacturers. They've done the best you can, and its no surprising they cant source spare parts to a discontinued products, especially one 6 years old.

MrsKeithRichards · 09/08/2012 20:16

But how much to cot fittings change? I don't get it.

Thanks for the lovely offer, dh is going to have a look, he should have a clue being a joiner but I might take you up on that!

We have an M&P cot bed and are missing a couple of screwy bits, we can't get them anywhere, seriously.

I'm sure using the same bolts isn't going to affect the design of a cot.

Sorry YABU its 6 year old. Went we packed up our we put all the bits in an envelope and used loads of masking tape to attach to the wood. You might be able to get from hardware store.

Cloudbase · 09/08/2012 23:13

Are these the sort of things you need?

As I said, I have a load of the barrel nuts and screws, and I will measure them and get back to you. Alternatively, I'm guessing this website might too...Smile

Cloudbase · 09/08/2012 23:36

Okay, Cloudbase's Hardware Store is Open!

I have:-

6x 6cm flat end screws with 1.5cm flat alan key head

8x 7.5cm pointed end screws with 1.5 flat alan key head

4x 6.5cm flat end screw with 1cm flat alan key head

2x 4.7cm flat end screws with 1cm flat alan key end

4x 1.8cm barrel nuts with 5mm bore and 1cm flat head head end

3x 1.1cm barrel nuts with 6mm bore and 9mm flat cross head end

7x 1.4cm barrel nuts with 5mm bore and 1cm flat cross head end

They've all come from various Cotbeds or Toddler beds so should theoretically fit Grin

pm me if you think they could be of use and they're yours...
