I just LOVE burnt, cold sausages. I got them from the butchers, DP is horrified that I would do such a thing to such good sausages but I am really in the mood for them! They're in the oven now :)

And then letting them go cold. Must proof read my titles!

I dont think burnt food is particularly good for you and it sounds like the waste of a good sausage, but each to their own..

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 09/08/2012 10:58

I thought this was going to be a barbecue thread :(

Gumby · 09/08/2012 10:59

Sacrilege

May you rot in hell

Grin

Are they yummy?

catgirl2012 · 09/08/2012 10:59

Well I eat bacon and sausages at a point where everyone else thinks them burnt beyond redemption (and I think them just about done)

Plus everyone knows cold sausages are better than hot ones so YANBU

Burnt food is carcinogenic

TastesLikePanda · 09/08/2012 11:00

Your sausages - your choice.

You know what I lurve? The residue left in the pan after sausages have cooked, and it's all salty and 'caremalised' and black and crunchy.
I spread it on bread for my sausage sandwiches...

TheCunnyFunt · 09/08/2012 11:07

Oooh Panda I love that bit too! Never spread it on bread though, might try that next time!

Sorry Pom :(

Burnt food is carcinogenic

Yes, particularly burnt fats. What's in those sausages again?

WaitingForMe · 09/08/2012 11:57

Life is carcinogenic.

Eat them the way you like them best. I've had good champagne with a delivered pizza before.

TheCunnyFunt · 09/08/2012 12:59

What is carcinogenic?

Fwiw they were delicious :o

"Burnt food is carcinogenic"

ER, bollocks. You're probably talking about acrylamides, which are in almost all cooked foods, and hasn't been proven whatsover to be a carcinogen in humans.
It has the potential to be one, but then so do most things we consume.

QuenelleOJersey2012 · 09/08/2012 13:10

YANBU Sausages should be cooked until you can draw with them.

QuenelleOJersey2012 · 09/08/2012 13:12

I read somewhere that the burnt fancy stripes on chargrilled foods are carcinogenic. Is it not true then?

PenisVanLesbian · 09/08/2012 13:14

Nope. At least, there is no evidence to prove they are any more carcinogenic than the rest of your sausage.

QuenelleOJersey2012 · 09/08/2012 13:17

Oh ok. Wouldn't make any difference to me anyway. I like my food scorched. I don't use an oven timer for cooking, I use a smoke alarm.

Latara · 09/08/2012 13:17

Yum; dip your cold sausages in brown sauce or mustard or ketchup.

Cumberland Ring from the hot food counter at Tesco etc is very bad but tasty.

Burnt white toast with butter always tastes better than anaemic toast.

Latara · 09/08/2012 13:17

PMSL at 'i use a smoke alarm' hehe :)

bogeyface · 09/08/2012 13:20

ANy toast that isnt black is just hot bread imo.

I love burnt sausages in white bread with cheese melted on top. Food of the gods!

JodieHarsh · 09/08/2012 13:21

YABU...

Unless you dip the cold sausages in a jar of pickle.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 09/08/2012 13:21

Burned food has fewer calories, so it's the healthy option if you are controlling your weight Grin
