Donned a cap and a pair of track suit bottoms and tried talk all manly like, you'd realise?

I'm just watching the programme The Girl Who Became 3 Boys and I'm gobsmacked.

Basically Gemma, Jessica and Alice are friends.

Gemma creates a fake profile on Facebook and becomes Luke. Gemma, cleverly disguised Hmm as Luke meets up with Alice and they have a relationship.

Gemma then creates a new profile, this becomes Aaron. Aaron meets up with Jessica and they have kisses and cuddles etc.
But Jessica doesn't like Aaron enough, so Lo and behold Cona is born!
gemma creates another profile as this Cona, and meets up with Jessica, apparently Jessica doesn't realise
Neither Jessica or Alice realise at any point that Gemma, Cona, Aaron and Luke are the same!!! They had even had sex!!

I haven't explained it too well but here's the story and I recommended anyone watches it on 4od

But seriously, is it that unreasonable for me to think I wouldn't be tricked this easily?? Even when I was their age

This programme was insane! The mind boggles! Feel really sorry for the girls, what a head fuck it must have been!

honeytea · 09/08/2012 15:13

I guess I was a chatty flirty girl, I hadn't considered how hard it could be. Maybe there needs to be more education for young women about how to stick up for themselves and how to decide if someone is trustworthy.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 09/08/2012 17:06

Did anyone hear the bit about jess seeing one of the boys pictures on Facebook (not sure which one) and saying he had really nice hair? But when it came to taking his hat off in RL he said he had alopecia?

What doesn't work?

Mrbojangles1 · 09/08/2012 17:08

My oh was giggling so much he nearly wet himself

Pickles77 · 09/08/2012 17:13

Well the pictures showed a full head of hair with one of those boy type fringes, forgive me if I'm appearing ignorant, but surely with alopecia that wouldnt occur? Confused

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 09/08/2012 17:19

You don't always lose all you're hair. I didn't.

Pickles77 · 09/08/2012 17:24

Oh queen thank you, I'm sorry if I appeared ignorant

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 09/08/2012 17:37

That's ok, I was confused.
Yeah you don't necesssarily loose all your hair.
Mine fell out on top, at the front, at the sides and at the back in patches. If it had only fell out at the sides and the back no one would have noticed.

Ironically i developed trich when it grew back and i pull it out now. I wear a hat a lot because it is bad. But you wouldn't know from a picture.

alistron1 · 09/08/2012 17:51

I think that jess certainly is/was a very vulnerable young teen/adult. I would assume that she'd probably not had the easiest time at school or in her home life and was craving affection and attention - thus it was easy for her to be 'groomed' and manipulated.

And how anyone could laugh at this, or find it funny, when 2 young girls were duped, taken advantage of and sexually assaulted is beyond me. Would people be laughing if Gemma had been a bloke?

MissKeithLemon · 09/08/2012 18:10

Just what I was thinking Alistron Shock

Can't see myself what is funny at all.

Two girls, one with clearly NO guiding influence, were sexually assaulted.

Krumbum · 09/08/2012 18:33

I think the way Jess talks (just her outgoing personality) and the expressions her and her nan use are funny but the it is awful that she was assaulted and Gemma rightly was convicted for it. The story isn't funny but Jess is.

alistron1 · 09/08/2012 18:45

Is she? A vulnerable young woman, who's been manipulated/groomed/abused and who appears to have some level of learning/social difficulty is FUNNY? Well hold my sides together lest I split them.

GhostShip · 09/08/2012 18:48

Doesn't krum mean she's a funny person as in personality.

We can be abused and still be funny people.

Christ.

GhostShip · 09/08/2012 18:50

And I'm sorry but what's happened is disgusting but when she said 'I blame Mark Zukerburg' I was laughing.

OP posts:
Krumbum · 09/08/2012 18:52

Yes I mean her personality and way of speaking was confident, gregarious and funny. Why is that awful to say?
It doesnt take away from what happened to her that is a funny person.

bringbacksideburns · 09/08/2012 18:56

I know what you mean Krumbum.
And when she said the other 'boy' only communicated by text and grunting. "Can i have a cup of tea?"

No one is disputing the crime was horrendous sexual assault.

MissKeithLemon · 09/08/2012 19:03

Tbf its not Krums comments that have had me [shocked] on this thread.

Its the posters who say things like

OMG I watched it!!

Me & my sister just kept saying - how could they not know!!!

You have to have watched the programme to fully understand how ridiculously stupid these girls were!!!

or,

My oh was giggling so much he nearly wet himself

Yeah, so ha ha funny that two girls were sexually assaulted. for fucks sake.

MissKeithLemon · 09/08/2012 19:03

Shock even.

FrillyMilly · 09/08/2012 20:03

If this had been done with both girls identity hidden I think the discussions would be very different.

GhostShip · 09/08/2012 20:05

They had a choice whether to be anonymous or not though.

And to be fair if Jessica's face was blocked out and name hidden, it wouldn't really have made much different to her story would it, and the things she said.

OP posts:
Lora1982 · 09/08/2012 20:51

im watching it now and cant believe they were so thick

MissKeithLemon · 09/08/2012 21:18

Yes FrillyMilly I agree.

I'm starting to get annoyed.

^^ Lora - nearly as thick as some of the posters on here would you say? Or not quite that thick? Hmm

Lora1982 · 09/08/2012 21:22

no.

MissKeithLemon · 09/08/2012 21:23

Ghost - a tv company with an agenda to sensationalise are a fair match for a young bewildered women are they?

MissKeithLemon · 09/08/2012 21:25

No not that thick. At least we agree there then.
