Friends baby (pfb) She insists I talk to him every bloody time we're on the phone.

Really, I love him to bits, he's adorable, lovely to be around and play with but I'd rather not talk to him on the phone especially when he can't be arsed talking back preferring to eat the phone and press all the buttons so all I hear is a series of long beeps. She keeps coming back to chat to me then saying "oh here, here he's looking at the phone now, say something"

Me: "Erm, Hi baby, hello friends baby Hmm"

Friend: "Ah he's too busy playing with the phone, oh no wait, he's listening, say something"

Argh, fucking stop!!

AIBU?

CleopatrasAsp · 08/08/2012 21:41

waypastwine0clock · 08/08/2012 21:44

Hassled · 08/08/2012 21:45

She'll look back on this one day and cringe :o

MrsKeithRichards · 08/08/2012 21:47

Oh god my sister still does this! It's so tedious! She also calls mid disaster and you spend half the call listening to her shouting at dn's to do or not do something!

Olympicnmix · 08/08/2012 21:48

The only people who should be subjected to this are doting grandparents, no other kind, and telephone-sales.

Dsis did it to me too

CookieRookie · 08/08/2012 22:02

MrsKR Sil does that to me too, drives me fucking mad annoys me a bit!

That's just reminded me of my mother, she's a million times worse. She spends most of the call giving out to then comforting the dogs. Goes a bit like this...

DM: So how are you pet?

Me: I'm grand, I was...

DM: will ye fucking get down, sorry love, go on.

DM: Ah stop it! What did you say love?

Me: I was working toda...

DM: get DOWN I SAID! DOWN NOW! don't you look at me like that! Jesus these dogs are driving me mad but I can't put them outside in the perfectly dry and comfortable garage rain. Did you say you were, STOP IT, working today?

Me:Yeah, hectic day. So glad I have the next few days off. Can't wait to...

DM: Ah ye should see the sad faces looking up at me now. Come here baby, come here, mammy didn't mean to be cross. Ah fucking STOP! Jesus why do they keep jumping up on the seats? Are ye there love?

Me: yeah Mum, listen I have to go, I'll give you a ring later.

DM: Ah god love ye, are ye too tired to talk. Sure I'll talk to ye later, bye lov...Get over there you and get into bed, blah blah...

FFUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!

waypastwine0clock · 08/08/2012 22:37

OMG i must be very weird then.. i LIKE speaking to my young nephews on the phone - mostly i get eating/snuffling/breathing/randomness but i dont care!

I'm also guilty of 'speaking' to cats on the phone too tho.....

NoVegBeforeSkeg · 08/08/2012 22:40

Grin Cookie, that was awesome!

A few years ago I asked a friend to be 'Santa' on the phone, for PSecondB DS. Blush
She did too, bless her. I'd have told me to fuck off.
