Induction dh gone home to watch the Olympics

I sent dh home 2 hrs ago to get some more essentials to add to my other two maternity bags. I am being induced and nothing is happening but I think he's gone to watch the Olympics. I told him to rest up & have some food but he's going a bit far. We only live 10 mins away from the hospital & he's been gone 2 hrs! I think I was being very reasonable by letting him go but if he is watching the Olympics I won't be best pleased. Is he being unreasonable?

Your unreasonable and if you can use your phone for this you could have sent him a text instead of being on here.

Different perspective - recently DH was taken to hospital. I nipped home to leave key with neighbour to feed cats, grab a few things he needed, have a sandwich for myself, blah de blah, and was surprised at how long I had taken to do these things. A couple of hours just went.

Good luck.

bogeyface · 08/08/2012 01:24

:o

Thank you, I think.......considering most of what I post is utter bollocks!

needsomesunshine · 08/08/2012 01:32

But your bollocks as you put it has seen me through when no-one in rl was around so thankyou. That's what mumsnet should be about. ( getting emotional, must be getting ready to give birth) Smile

I would try and get some sleep BUT if you really want him therre call him back!. He would crumble from a nights broken/ no sleep so if you need him let him know.
Good luck :)

5dcsinneedofacleaner · 08/08/2012 05:01

Doh - i see hes back silly me. Thats what i get for posting at 5am.
Still.....have fun!

wishiwasonholiday · 08/08/2012 05:05

Wish our hospital let partners stay mine got sent home (we are 45 mins away) I went into labour, gave birth 20 mins later so he missed it!

McHappyPants2012 · 08/08/2012 05:57

Good luck with the birth.

I think it is better for your dp to be at home resting as I can take days to get into labour and you will need the support more in labour than waiting for labour to start. Tbh I would be sending him out for breakfast as it will be nicer than hospital muck lol

grobagsforever · 08/08/2012 08:02

Man. This place really should be renamed 'martyrsnet' why on earth should dh get to sleep while op is sitting in.hospital. there are some witches on here it is true. Good luck op.

MonsPubis · 08/08/2012 08:08

Have you actually been induced yet? As long as he is with you from that point, I don't see why I actually needs to be there right now?

MrMiyagi · 08/08/2012 08:23

"why on earth should dh get to sleep while op is sitting in.hospital?"

So he can actually be of some use to her, and not a tired wreck, when the time comes? If he had left her while she was begging him to stay he'd be a bastard, but he went home to rest as he was told by the op.

Still, don't let facts get in the way of man-bashing.

needsomesunshine · 08/08/2012 09:07

Where was the man- bashing mr.miyagi? Nobody said I didn't need him or that hed be useless if he was here so I dont see how it was man bashing.Hmm

I was induced at 7.30, he left at 9 & came back at 1. I'm glad everyone doesn't see things like you.

Mchappy he is off to maccyd's in a moSmile
I have been having contractions all night but not enough to warrant an emergency yet but it's nice having him here, especially when other partners are wandering others. That takes some getting used to.

Mrmyagi Op's can dooze in a chair and just be with her for moral support. Ever heard of that?

coppertop · 08/08/2012 11:40

Good luck with the induction, Needsomesunshine. :)

MuddyRocker · 08/08/2012 13:18

Aw I teared up when you said he was back with strawberries and peppermint tea, OP. I can totally empathise. When I was in labour with my DD I just wanted my DP to be there even if he couldn't really do anything - just seeing him made me feel safe and supported. I hope it all goes well today! Hopefully you will have your little one in your arms very soon (if not already - I just noticed the time of your last post) Best Wishes

GhostShip · 08/08/2012 13:30

Good luck!!

GhostShip · 08/08/2012 13:31

And if this was me I'd expect DP to be there every step of the way not sat at home with his feet up.

MrMiyagi · 08/08/2012 13:34

"Mrmyagi Op's can dooze in a chair and just be with her for moral support. Ever heard of that?"

I have, and it's a brilliant idea. Why not ask that he do that then? Much better to TELL him to go home and rest then have an opportunity to give off about it when he does?

Sprogged · 08/08/2012 15:04

Erm, because going through child birth is a worrying time, you'd think that everyone else would sleep through the night but then to find everyone else's husband milling about makes you feel even lonelier than you already do, and think 'wah, I don't care what I said, I neeeeeed you here'?

Women give birth very seldom in life, and funnily enough, people get EMOTIONAL at that sort of time MrMyagi.

GetOrfMoiRing · 08/08/2012 15:21

Good luck OP.

I swear to god this place should be called Cunstnet sometimes. Don't worry that the woman is in hospital about to go into labour - let's pick over her comments and berate her for having the temerity to want her husband with her when it is permissable. Let's just argue with her every word.

Silly cows. I hope your labour goes well OP.
