Induction dh gone home to watch the Olympics

I sent dh home 2 hrs ago to get some more essentials to add to my other two maternity bags. I am being induced and nothing is happening but I think he's gone to watch the Olympics. I told him to rest up & have some food but he's going a bit far. We only live 10 mins away from the hospital & he's been gone 2 hrs! I think I was being very reasonable by letting him go but if he is watching the Olympics I won't be best pleased. Is he being unreasonable?

Aww good luck. I agree with the previous poster, if you want him there he should be there. i was induced with DC2 and the waiting sucks. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly!

needsomesunshine · 07/08/2012 23:40

Thanks I think I will. I think I expected him to say ' don't be daft, I'll be straight back'Smile

Then you should have asked him to come straight back. I hope you don't intend to continue telling him to do things then being passive aggressive and seething with him for doing this that, it's manipulative.

MrMiyagi · 07/08/2012 23:45

"doing just that"

bogeyface · 07/08/2012 23:47

MrMyagi

Normally I would agree with you but the OP is on the labour ward, so all bets are off. Give her a break just this once, eh?

bogeyface · 07/08/2012 23:48

And dont forget that 2 hours in hospital waiting for someone is the equivelant to 2 days anywhere else.

needsomesunshine · 07/08/2012 23:50

Wow mrmiyagi. Give me a break

Your wishes should take precedence I think, if you want him there he should be there

They did take precedence, didn't they?

Noqontrol · 07/08/2012 23:54

Yeah, i'd want him to come back. Ring him and tell him. YANBU.
And good luck op, hope it goes ok.

ilovesooty · 07/08/2012 23:56

Is it OK if he rests up and eat as long as he doesn't put the TV on? Grin

Hope the birth goes well.

needsomesunshine · 08/08/2012 00:04

Thankyou sooty. I hope it's not a long one. I suppose I'm a bit jealous that he's got that option and I'm missing my other ds'.

I really feel for you sunshine. When I was induced I just wanted to be at home, in bed with my lovely hubby having a great big cuddle and having him telling me everything would be ok. He's probably lying awake wishing you were there and wondering how it's going! Maybe you could text him you miss him? Come back and tell us the size and gender won't you? Good luck x

needsomesunshine · 08/08/2012 00:27

I rung him, my sister said he's gone to bed.

biddysmama · 08/08/2012 00:28

yanbu because im not brave enough to tell a heavily pregnant woman waiting to be induced that she is bu

bogeyface · 08/08/2012 00:31

oooh shit! :o

I would ring back and ask your sister to wake him. Things could get going very quickly after your second dose (gel I assume?) they did with my friend I mentioned above, she had a 1.5 hour labour!

Clearly he took "have a rest" to mean have a good long kip when you meant half an hour on the sofa! Dont be too hard on him, sounds like a misunderstanding.

Cherriesarelovely · 08/08/2012 00:33

you may well be BU but i would feel exactly the same! I felt abandoned when I was in labour and my DP and mum went off to have something to eat because it "was going to be a long night for them"! I really hope it goes well and happens fairly soon for you.

needsomesunshine · 08/08/2012 00:53

I will be very nice & accidentally squeeze his hand too tight.Grin

I "accidentally" bit H when I was in labour, and you know what? He still moans about it now, like he somehow got the worst of the deal during my 14 hour labour that he was at work for the first 5 hours of!

bogeyface · 08/08/2012 00:57

Good luck Need, Hope you next dose works well :)

needsomesunshine · 08/08/2012 01:01

I hope so bogeyface. ThankyouSmile

God, there are some witches on here! You're about to give birth to his child, I think you're NBU to ask him to break his nap to come and support you. Hmm

Bestest of luck! A BABY!

Sprogged · 08/08/2012 01:05

Oh well. Least you know. Don't break his fingers, he needs those to change nappies Wink

bogeyface · 08/08/2012 01:07

Dont forget the "accidental" nutting opps you get during the second stage too Wink

needsomesunshine · 08/08/2012 01:11

He is back now with a pot of strawberries and a flask of peppermint tea so he is back in my good books: )
