.....advertisements are aimed directly at women? They always feature a woman with a gleaming kitchen and never a man. Why don't they make some aimed at men?

OP posts:

Because women do most of the cleaning and therefore most of the buying of cleaning products?

squoosh · 07/08/2012 16:32

buy most of . . .

deliakate · 07/08/2012 16:33

Mr Muscle?

ripsishere · 07/08/2012 16:33

What about the man who looks very proud of his clean t.shirt because he used a certain washing liquid that works at cold temperatures?
Clearly not a very good advert. I don't remember the name of it.

squoosh - how to perpetuate a stereotype, then.

mango - to drive us barmy, to perpetuate a gender stereotype and to show your sons that they don't need to know how to clean because it's wimminswork.

There is one at the minute where a knight charges in and cleans something that no one else can.

Then they take their helmet off and it is a woman. DH does more cleaning than me!

cupcake78 · 07/08/2012 16:36

It drives me mad! Dh loves to point it out just to wind me up.

squoosh · 07/08/2012 16:39

Do you think there is a way of making cleaning seem aspirational then nickel?

Boys should learn as children that they need to clean up after themselves, bit silly to expect a company, selling a product, who wants to shift as many units as possible, that its up to them to get grown men to clean.

Nuttyprofessor · 07/08/2012 16:52

Totally agree. There was one that said women spend so many hours cleaning they can do it quicker with this. I emailed the company to complain.

are they? never noticed. the advertising isnt working.
DH is obsessed with cleaning products. Does any household really need 6 bottles of cillit bang? No. Never.

squoosh · 07/08/2012 16:57

I buy whatever is on the shelves of Poundland. Cleaning products are cleaning products, not something you need to splurge on.
