To think I can't be the only person who sings the daily monotony of their lives as if they are in their own personal musical?

Todays highlights have been

I love Soup and Rolls, Stick some in a bowl and Lunch with Meee! (Joan Jett)

and

Where have all the Biro's gone? (Paula Cole)

I don't even do it alone in the house. I do it with the Dc's in public too at times. Ds is particularly good now adding a chorus and doing harmonies.

After 10 years of marriage Dh is used to it but still thinks I am a weirdo. I refuse to believe I am the only person in the entire world that does this.

Dh sings all the time to the dc and I talk to myself (both sides of the conversation with hand gestures). So glad we are not alone.

I used to sing a nappy song to the tune of Diamonds Are Forever...

Nappies are for Changiiiiiiing (cue Shirley Bassey flourish)
Wrap one up and then just bin it
We don't want to know what's in it
Cause when your nappies full and you're uncomfortable
It's a Siiiiiiiiiin (further Shirley Bassey flourish) etc etc

I'm so glad it's not just me....

Can I offer:

"I won't give up on yooooou, even if you do a pooooooo.."

to the tune of that utter dirge that was on the radio all the time recently. Possibly James Blunt or similar.

To encourage toddler to get a move on - to the tune of Downtown - Downstairs, things will be great when we're downstairs

FourEyesGood · 09/08/2012 21:13

We do many variations on Camptown Races, e.g.
DD's got a stinky bum, doo dah, doo dah
DD's got a stinky bum, all the doo dah day.

I love this thread and am glad there are so many of us doing this. My favourite so far is Sausage for tea, but lots of the songs here have kept me grinning.

I tend to sing to hymn tunes what I'm doing. Hymn tunes are easy to sing to:

"I vow to thee my daughter
that if you don't get dressed
then we can not go anywhere
and your siblings will be stressed.
They may not want to go far
they do not want to stay in
But if you delay us further
then they will make a din
And if you don't get up soon
I will give them leave
To use your favourite spoon
and not say please" Grin

Dd2 then got downstairs in record time so she could use her spoon with 2003 written on it before the others used it.

Unfortunately my dc have started to answer in kind.

My current favourite and the one that drives my 13 and 11 year olds bonkers is:

The traffic lights are red
The traffic lights are red
We Have to stop
We have to stop
The traffic lights are red

Oh and now they're turning green
Now they're turning green
We can go
We can go
Now they're turning green

:) but I have lots and lots more lolol

"hands up, baby hands up, gimme your heart gimme gimme your heart gimme gimme all your love, all your love" when wrangling baby out of clothes. [old emoticon]

FloydieDoydie · 09/08/2012 22:20

"Shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake you baby! Shake you bayyybee!"

Whilst shaking DD into her tights Grin

Or: "shake it, shake it, shake it like a Polaroid picture"

Flobbadobs · 09/08/2012 22:24

This thread actually inspired me tonight when changing DD2's nappy... I give you (in the style of A Ha's Take On Me)
"Poooonaaaameeeee
Poooonaaaameeeee
Stinkeeee buuum"

I got a little carried away..

Lovelynewboots · 09/08/2012 22:29

(To the tune of mernermerner off the Muppets)

Daddys back doo doo doo doo doo
Daddys back doo doo doo doo
Daddys back doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
d d d doo doo doo doo

Every single time my dp comes back from work
