To think I can't be the only person who sings the daily monotony of their lives as if they are in their own personal musical?

Todays highlights have been

I love Soup and Rolls, Stick some in a bowl and Lunch with Meee! (Joan Jett)

and

Where have all the Biro's gone? (Paula Cole)

I don't even do it alone in the house. I do it with the Dc's in public too at times. Ds is particularly good now adding a chorus and doing harmonies.

After 10 years of marriage Dh is used to it but still thinks I am a weirdo. I refuse to believe I am the only person in the entire world that does this.

pollyblue · 06/08/2012 21:49

Oh this is a bit weirdy, I did 'where have all the bran flakes gone?' to the Paula Cole tune this morning......

I talk to myself a lot too. I'm the only one who listens to me.

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 06/08/2012 21:50

I do it 'get your socks on, get your socks on honey' is a favourite here, but my 6 year old sings about everything like some sort of wierd musical.

WorraLiberty · 06/08/2012 22:06

No but I got kicked out of the local maternity unit

Apparently you're not supposed to rush in singing "Your bumps, your bumps, your bumps, your lovely baby bumps"

I mean who fucking knew?? Confused

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 06/08/2012 22:09

Worra Grin Grin

One of my work colleagues sang that to me all the time when I was pg with dd

I find singing my orders requests to my DS 3.5 produces far better results, he does sometimes respond with his favourite chorus of "No, no, no, no! Oh, no, oh no mummy no, no, no!" (operatic) But he's usually worn down by my "woe is me" aria and if that fails then tickling helps. It's funny how singing takes the sting out of the daily grind.

WilsonFrickett · 06/08/2012 22:12

'I've got the beans, I've got the Heinz be-ee-ans' to the tune of 'I've got the key, I've got the secret'. Another 'Get your socks on'-er. Also 'What does not kill you is the laundry, got to sort the laundry, just pants and socks and tops. Laundry. LAUND-REEEEEEEE'.

Does anyone else 'go Nigella' when they're making the dinner? Blush

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 06/08/2012 22:16

Not Nigella no I do the Swedish Chef

"Are you ready? Are you ready for lunch?" (Elton John) is a favourite round our gaff, yes

DozyDuck · 06/08/2012 22:23

DS sings 'everybody loves a stinky mummy poo' to eastenders theme tune EVERY DAY... After I sang 'everybody loves DS' once!

Another first for him, changing a phrase to his own sentence (ASD) and another first with a monkey side effect Grin

Oh well

Passmethecrisps · 06/08/2012 22:27

[amazed that it's not just me emoticon]

I sing all the time. We have a 'meat song' which is sung to the cat when it is time for tea. Most tunes are our own invention.

I talk to myself constantly.

MrsKeithRichards · 06/08/2012 22:29

Yes yes to get your rocks on (or off) baby!

MrsKeithRichards · 06/08/2012 22:31

And eastenders theme tune is 'little boys should be in bed' in this house!

Ketuk · 06/08/2012 22:32

I do it all the time, like passme, to my own tunes usually, though going to steal a few now.
DD has started doing it too now!

Kayano · 06/08/2012 22:36

I sang at DD today when feeding her

to the tune of she'll be coming round the mountain

It is scrummy, yummy, yummy for my girl
It is scrummy, yummy, yummy for my girl
It is scrummy , yummy, yummy for my little xxx's tummy
It is scrummy yummy yummy for my girl

Lyricist I am not Grin

I do it. The dc tell me to be quiet.

Flyingwithoutwings · 06/08/2012 22:50

Choked with laughter at that!! Grin

youarewinning · 06/08/2012 23:03

My friend and I do it all the time Blush Our 3 DC's 7&8 find it hysterical. They've started doing it too.

It's never a certain lyric to a certain tune it often is just to get the DC's attention of break the atmosphere when they're arguing!

My favoutite ever was when they had fallen out and all felt the need to shout explain their side at the same time. So I sang loudly:

Wooo oh oh oh my ears are on fire. Grin
