The dc's are normally good ,I take them out everyday otherwise they play up,which is understandable, aibu to leave him to it for a few hours for everyones sanity?.

Depends what your DP does and how much pain he's in.
I've torn the cartilage in my Hip and am on crutches and i'm at work. Finding it quite knackering so I've left early a few times but we are short staffed (due to redundancies ) and I couldn't sit at home for approx 2months whilst I wait for surgery, then 6 wks after, the company would really struggle probably go bust (we're only wee)
I only take really strong painkillers at night or I'd be doolally, so just take codeine & paraceatamol but the getting round on crutches thing I'm getting ok at. Nothing much I can do about the stairs but I've got a foot rest under my desk.
If he's got a physical job, it'll obviously be harder than a desk based one like me.

Wonkeylegs he has a physical job,ok he def does take strong tablets at night he has currently co codamal or co dryramol .

Do you know which is stronger ,may have to goggle.

It's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. Will vary massively depending on the severity of sprain. I took me 12 weeks and a lot of physio before I could walk normally again.

Shesparkles · 06/08/2012 19:12

I think they're the same strength, just slightly different formulations-I can take co dydramol but not co coda of. Just watch out for constipation !

I was at my doc today as I've strained my knee ligaments, not on crutches but she said it could take about 6 weeks to heal

My DH tore his ligament and was in plaster/on crutches ( I cant remember how long for - a month maybe?)
He wasn't allowed in work until the plaster was off and he could walk without crutches as his offices were on the second floor of a serviced building and he was classed as a H&S risk in the case of a fire evacuation etc.

A work colleague of mine sprained her ligaments but she came into work on crutches as her work station was moved on the ground floor near a fire exit.

DH drove me over the edge when he was in plaster - hes a wimp where pain is concerned.

I think tbh he will not be going anywhere for this and best part of next week,if he walks on his crutches it just swells up he will not be able to do a physical job,and def needs to rest.

Thanks for the advice, I will just make sure I take the dc's out for a few hours tomorrow after lunch, then make sure he ok before anything else.

Oh yes he needs to watch out for constipation with any codeine based drug, it can be awful. If he takes 2 senna tablets a night he should ward it off.
Hope he doesn't drive you too mad.
