That's it, I work as a nurse in the Nhs, I'm 33. , just thought at this stage of my life I would be earning more. (unhappy & bitter) have 2 young DD, So career change at the mo would be difficult.

£31,500 sounds like a lot to me.

I am a teacher -and have been here and in other countries for 17 years - and not all of us earn a decent amount. i work a 0.75 contract so 28.5 hours a week and earn £18,500 a year, the most i could earn full time would be £29,000 and that would be with other responsibilites.

Most of us in my dept have asked for pay rises in appraisals and never get them, i have asked in every appraisal for the last 4 years and have always been told there is no money.

Like so many people who have posted, it all depends on your outgoings. My DH earns about the same as me full time and we manage to save £500 a month towards a house deposit.

Sorry but you are on a lot more than me. I am just gratefully in this day and age that I have a job and am able to provide for my dd.
