To be rather peeved that DD took 2.5 flippin' hours to get to sleep tonight, thus meaning I missed most of one of the country's greatest sporting achievements ever

Just wanted to get that off my chest.

To be fair, my constant popping out of her room when she was almost, but not quite asleep, to check on the Olympics probably prolonged the getting-to-sleep process, but 2.5 flippin' hours!

Anyway, I feel better now that I have watched the news and Jessica Ennis' medal ceremony.

Night all.

I'd be peeved too! But I did get to see her in the Long jump and javelin live earlier today! Grin

Nymia · 04/08/2012 22:52

One?! You missed three!!

WorraLiberty · 04/08/2012 22:52

YABU what sort of insane parent doesn't have Sky+?? Shock

A great day for Team GB yet again Grin

StripyShoes · 04/08/2012 22:53

I had a non settling DD too tonight...so I caved and took her into our bedroom so I could watch the tv in there! Grin

CharlieMouseWillDoIt · 04/08/2012 22:59

I meant all three collectively as one of the greatest achievements!

Yes, TV delay is a god-send. I re-wound some of evenings events when I sent DH in to do his shift with DD.

I did get to see the penalty shoot-out miss live though Hmm

YANBU.

For not cooperating, your DD is clearly being unreasonable.

Bloody kids. Wink

NoComet · 04/08/2012 23:34

YABU
Those of us who are older and wiser, or simply lazier and more selfish, just cuddle up in front of the TV with the offending chid on our knee.

Definitely one of the advantages of DDs eternal BFing habit.

Let them fall a sleep (subtitles can be handy) and carry them up to bed later.

I always record important stuff, always.

I'm with StarBallBunny. Bedtime routines... what are they? Grin Breastfeeding toddlers to sleep on the sofa may well be lazy parenting, but it's the way for me! Having said that, I think that being consistent is very important, and I am impressed that you stuck to your routine in the face of so much temptation.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 04/08/2012 23:45

YANBU.

The Olympics is screwing up bedtime in this house tonight too. Not great when you have an early flight and 2 ds's who haven't been up before 8 in two weeks.

Shenanagins · 04/08/2012 23:49

No way was i missing tonight cos he wouldn't sleep. he's still going strong and i will pay for it but its the Olympics!

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 05/08/2012 00:36

You sit with your child until she's completely asleep? even if it takes over 2 hours? Confused sod that
