We are everywhere!! There were hardly any when I was growing up, really I was a rarity!! Nowadays, well two out of my three children are ginger. Even Royalty has a ginger now!! Loads of ginger kids on Butlins today when I visited.

Hmmm. Funnily enough it is ginger dd's twin that has the eczema and eye problems. Maybe he is Danny De-Vito to her Arnie Grin

NoComet · 05/08/2012 01:30

My red haired DD has very mild asthma, but it's the non red head who inherited my short sight.

I'm naturally scruffy mousy brown, dyed slightly redish to hide the greySad

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 05:33

MrsKeithRichards congratulations.

I was not so much disappointed as stunned to give birth to a blonde girl. She tries to live up to the blondeness. She pretends to be dizzy and then says'it's because I'm blonde.' I always told her if she is smart enough to use it as an excuse she is too smart to have it as an excuse.

She is now more 'honey blonde', verging on the strawberry and bound to give me ginger grandchildren!!

My DD2 age 6 is as ginger as they come, she has blonde highlights in the summer!!

My DS age 5 has strawberry blond hair, with a bright orange streak down the middle!! Very interesting!!

Our family was 'stealth ginger' for several generations until I came along and now ds1 is continuing the tradition with flame orange locks!

It does seem that there are more ginger children about. I was teased at school, being thebonly ginger child. Now ds1 is one of many ginger children and has not really suffered any teasing to speak of thankfully.

Ds1 wears glasses too.....

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 06:13

My ginger children do not wear glasses and I don't know of any link but gingers do have a lower pain threshold(sp?). Will try to find link!

I'm a proud redhead too!! I've got long curly dark red hair which I hoped I'd pass on to my dc but dc1 (out of 3) is the only one with red hair but she's not got the curls (yet!!). Mine only came with puberty so I'm wondering if hers will too!

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 05/08/2012 06:19

I'm the only pale blonde in my family. Both DB and I started off with white hair, his faded to dirty blonde and mine just went a tiny bit darker.

My mum has jet black hair, but her five sisters and my late PA are varying shades of redhead, we have had two beautiful light, light, light ginja ninja girls born into the family this year!

I really, desperately want a ginger baby. I'm hoping because of my family and the fact I'm blonde I can bake one up. Rubs palms together evilly

When I was five, I saw Titanic and told mum she wasn't as pretty as Auntie X and Y because they had 'Rose' hair. Grin I've tried dying my hair every shade of red..Just doesn't suit me. Envy

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 06:27

For years there was only Ariel, the little mermaid as a red headed heroine. I love that The Brave features a gorgeous ginga!!

Mine is a bit of a frizz and more grey now, but I assist it back to my natural shade!!

hedgehogpatronus · 05/08/2012 06:31

I've just dyed my hair a mid reddish shade after thirty years of dark brown, and I am absolutely loving it. More power to you if you're naturally ginger, I bloody wish I was!

lentilweavinghippy · 05/08/2012 07:04

Congrats mrskeithrichards!

I was a tiny bit disappointed to give birth to a dark haired little boy (only in the most superficial way of course) after months of 'ooh, but what if it's ginger??' from pretty much everyone (my DH is ginger - obviously I LIKE ginger!). However... Now two & a half, he has gradually developed into a beautiful, porcelain-skinned green/grey-eyed GINGER!

pigletmania · 05/08/2012 08:02

My neighbour teenage daughter has ginger hair, think of the model Lilly cole. Really long flame read hair and a really beautiful girl

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 05/08/2012 08:06

My DH is ginger and my DD has a tinge of ginge...red hair rocks!

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 08:09

I know someone who pulled their DD out of the school my DC go to because she had the mickey taken out of her by a parent of another child!!

I rather think it was an over reaction to a friendly comment.

Loads of medals being won by Gingas this week.

BalloonSlayer · 05/08/2012 08:26

Mamma I read a book by a surgeon and she said that among surgeons, anecdotally, redheads are believed to bleed more.

LilyCocoplatt · 05/08/2012 09:22

Isn't Christian Grey a ginger, he's got copper coloured hair not sure if that counts.

IceCubes · 05/08/2012 09:29

I've just had ginger twins! No ginger in the family, so surprise ginger!

LilyCocoplatt · 05/08/2012 09:45

Bit of ginger eye candy here, mmm <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=cfx&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1680&bih=878&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnso&tbnid=4r4p74IQEwtbSM:&imgrefurl=www.list.co.uk/article/32034-gary-windass-downward-spiral/&docid=XMrbnylI5IlLlM&imgurl=files.list.co.uk/images/2011/01/19/1295431253-24330x330.jpg&w=330&h=330&ei=PzIeULbRIoHA0QXrvoDQBQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=436&sig=103486363942168479864&page=1&tbnh=158&tbnw=181&start=0&ndsp=32&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0,i:105&tx=83&ty=113" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">yes please.

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 10:02

IceCubes did you stir a pot of tea that someone else made, or whatever it is that is meant to produce ginger twins?

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 10:03

Thanks for that Lily. That bit of ginger eye candy was in my town the other day, for the opening of Poundland. I didn't cue to have my pic done with him, I had my two hooligans with me!

There lots of gingers in team GB this year, my nephew is thrilled, he is 8 and is teased alot about his hair, sadly its not usually by children but by adults Angry

NotGeoffVader · 05/08/2012 12:00

I have just coloured my hair orange/red. Having posted a picture to some people it appears that ginger hair was a family trait several generations back.

Still playing with hair dye as it's not quite the colour I want. At the moment it's kind of flame orange, but I'm actually after tulip red. I have to get some more dye in the week so I can do an all over job.
Thankfully my skin is quite pale so I seem to be able to carry it off. Very jealous of those with naturally russet/auburn locks.

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 12:34

Clearly I meant queue, not cue!! What a muppet! I was being harrassed to get ready to go out.
