We are everywhere!! There were hardly any when I was growing up, really I was a rarity!! Nowadays, well two out of my three children are ginger. Even Royalty has a ginger now!! Loads of ginger kids on Butlins today when I visited.

bogeyface · 04/08/2012 21:45

Isnt he though?

I only posted the pic so everyone could say how utterly scrummy he is! He is a bit of a "just william" which I think comes out in that picture too :o

WorraLiberty · 04/08/2012 21:47

My hair is dark red but dead straight. I would have given my right arm for long auburn curls euphemia, I bet she is stunning!

I really want to go red but I'm too scared. Any tips?

bogeyface · 04/08/2012 22:01

Dont go permenant until you are sure, its a bitch to get rid of!

Also, dye to the same shade you are now, so if you are blonde go very light ginge, if you are brunette, dark red etc as it will tone better with your skin and look more natural :)

Pickles77 · 04/08/2012 22:02

Okay I'm very blonde, I was just thinking of people being negative? Can everyone pull if off?

bogeyface · 04/08/2012 22:03

Try a semi permanant and see. Just pick a shade that is very close to your current shade so it will tone better. Going bright auburn from blonde probably wouldnt suit you.

BikeRaceRunningRaceNoSkiing · 04/08/2012 22:07

Worral I wasn;t really that dissapointed, but my dad was so proud of his hair, and he died nearly 20 years ago, so I wanted it to carry on. It was so "him" (amongst many other facets). My DC are his last DGC, I guess the red hair is lost in our family for now.

JumpingThroughHoops · 04/08/2012 22:11

Even Royalty has a ginger now!!

The Tudors and Stuarts were ginger so hardly a new phenomenon.

bogeyface · 04/08/2012 22:11

So's James Hewitt Wink

noddyholder · 04/08/2012 22:12

ChaoticismyLife · 04/08/2012 22:12

I love red hair, I've been different shades of red at different stages of my life.

bogey he's absolutely gorgeous, looks full of mischief too :)

noddyholder · 04/08/2012 22:18

He is much sexier than the skinny bike bloke

EduStudent · 05/08/2012 00:23

I have my own personal TinTin Grin I'm trying to convince him to get a Snowy.

sashh · 05/08/2012 01:13

Bogey a girl I knew at Uni doing a genetics PhD once told me that red hair, short sight, eczema, asthma and hayfever are all on the same gene, and if you have one, you're likely to have at least 2 or 3 of the others.

Bugger, I have three - but not the red hair - that's my cousins.

My family has 'stealth ginger', the ginger parents never get ginger kids, it just pops up occasionally.

bogeyface · 05/08/2012 01:15

:o loving "stealth ginger"! You might not see them, but they are there!

SkipTheLightFanjango · 05/08/2012 01:17

My Dp is a ginger (well before he went grey). We have 4 dc's 1 dark, 1 light-brown, 1 ginger and 1 blonde..bunch of mongrels us! Grin

EcoLady · 05/08/2012 01:20

I have a ginga ninja DS... he's the only one in the family who does NOT wear glasses and no sign of any other health issues either.

He's soooo photogenic, especially in summer when all his freckles are out. I could just eat him up! Rest of us are plain, mousy, long-sighted, allergy-ridden...
