to think MN should think up its own logo rather than ripping off Charlie's Angels?

I do like the logo a lot, but I always feel it's a bit of a rip off.

I'm surprised Charlie et al haven't sued.

Disclaimer: light hearted thread. Please don't ban me MNHQ.

What do you suggest as an alternative then?

Harassed mum with gin bottle and iPad or maybe Boden clad on iPhone?

Catsmamma · 04/08/2012 12:57

it's an homage innit.

no one can get cross about that! ;)

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 04/08/2012 12:59

Maybe talc could conjure up a new logo out of emoticons, pissy

At what point does homage become ripoff?

Well I think it's great!

Cloudbase · 04/08/2012 13:01

The very reason I stayed on MN after randomly discovering it while looking for pushchair reviews in 2006, was because of the logo.

I was ever so slightly obsessed with Charlie's Angels as a kid, and the idea that there was a parenting website that equated parents with my favourite crime fighting trio just called to me...Grin

Seriously, YABU - the logo is a perfect encapsulation of everything I love about MN

Iggly · 04/08/2012 13:01

YABU

Or maybe they should change it to Biscuit?!

Heck. I always thought it was the imprint of a spider I once squashed on the laptop screen

[never logs out of MN emoticom]

Mind you, it does look like a cannabis leaf when on a Brew

You say potato, I say po-tar-to!

homage?? rip-off?? depends on the legal team really :o

HecateHarshPants · 04/08/2012 14:06

I like it. It represents a bunch of bally, independent, intelligent, innovative and kick ass women!

I can't think of a better logo, tbh!

quoteunquote · 04/08/2012 14:06

I always think it looks like a profile view of a swiss army knife with all the tools out,

But it is naff and a bit sad.

Which is a shame, as I am sure MN could do better, maybe they should run a competition to come up with an alternative, let people vote on it.

TheDreadedFoosa · 04/08/2012 14:08

Yes, Mumsnet can never hope to become a successful site with this logo.

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 14:14

I have always wondered this. I think a competition would be a good idea.

Snog · 04/08/2012 14:19

i heart the logo

TapirBackRider · 04/08/2012 14:46

The logo is fine - some like it, some don't.

It doesn't matter if there is a competition to change it, because whatever is decided on will not please a goodly percentage of posters - MNHQ would be critisised no matter what.

Why fix what isn't broken?

SparklingGoldMedals · 04/08/2012 14:51

I like it. I thought the fact it was like Charlie's Angels was intentional TBH.

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 05/08/2012 10:46

I didn't think it wasn't intentional. The question is whether it is somewhat unoriginal.
