AIBU to think that if my son stood still for long enough that I would actually SEE him growing?

Well am I? He's 14 and I swear he looks taller every time I look at him Shock

I've got an overwhelming urge to force him to stand ramrod straight with his back to the wall so that i can watch him!

I know that feeling! DS1 just won't slow down. I can actually see his trousers working their way up his legs Grin

Littleplasticpeople · 03/08/2012 22:15

Grin My 3 year old is growing almost visibly at the moment. She does it in bed, I am tempted to set up camp in her room and catch her at it.

SoleSource · 03/08/2012 22:17

My DS has grown 2 inches in the last few weeks.

FannyMcNee · 03/08/2012 22:18

DH has a teenage brother who looks older/taller and sounds deeper every time I see him (about once a fortnight).

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 03/08/2012 22:26

I also can't get used to the deep voice - a couple of weeks ago i was resting on my bed when ds came in with his mate - they'd been into town.

I didn't hear them come in but I was woken by their deep voices and thought i was being burgled!!!!!!!

Smug LOL

Morethanonegold · 03/08/2012 22:32

Same here, DD has developed a podgey tum, sure sign that a growth spurt is imminent Grin

BikeRaceRunningRaceNoSkiing · 03/08/2012 22:35

3 yo DS has grown 2 inches since end of March.
Last October I bought him a load of 3-4 clothes, he shot through 4-5 and us now in 5-6. He is still 3!

SkipTheLightFanjango · 04/08/2012 00:44

DS1 is 12 and his voice sometimes seems lower...not sure though. Just wish his bloody feet would stop growing. We just had to buy him sze 10.5 shoes and we can't get non-marking trainers for him (for school) as the size 11;'s were too tight on his toes and the spots shop says they don't do any larger!!!! Argghhh!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 04/08/2012 00:58

Skip
My Dad had large feet 11 - 12 and was a keen badminton player. He used to wear Dunlop trainers as they go up to size 15 in some styles
www.sportsdirect.com/dunlop-indoor-court-trainers-mens-145096

or the canvas Green Flash which certainly go up to a 12

Just a thought (no I don't work for Dunlop honest guv!)

I can tell with my son by food intake. Eating like a horse? Time for new clothes!

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 04/08/2012 08:17

Tee - my 9 yo Ds is going through one of those unfillable phases Grin. Dh works from home a lot, but we have all just been away on holiday. Poor old dh was Shock and kept asking me where the food went.

nokidshere · 04/08/2012 08:19

My 13 year old grew from 5ft2 (august 2011) to 5ft9.5 (june 2012) - 7.5 inches in 10 months - unbelievable, and he towers over me!

TheCunningStunt · 04/08/2012 08:21

Christ DS is only 5 and this has been his life. He grows hugely in spurts. I just bought him size 13 shoes for school and a uniform for 8 year olds. He eats ALL the time and is super skinny. I am dreading the teenage years...how do you feed them?? DS already eats more than me in a day. YANBU

Tee2072 · 04/08/2012 08:23

ANHD - he's only 3 but over 3.5 feet tall, perhaps closer to 4 feet at this point, so skinny you can count his ribs and still weighs 2.5 stone.

It should be noted that I am just barely over 5 feet myself...

StillSquiffy · 04/08/2012 08:26

I've another one. Has grown an inch in last three weeks alone, and has gone from Adult size 3 to size 5.5 since september. He's 8.

TheCunningStunt · 04/08/2012 08:29

This is why I like shorts. I buy them quite big and DS can outgrow them and I feel I get my money's worth...they start off as long shorts and end up as short longs Grin

Another one here with a ds eho looks like he's been stretched. He is 6 and his clothing is age 9 but he is another skinny beanpole. The only thing slow growing lately is his feet. He is still in a 13. This is probably as I bought an expensive pair of shoes in the sale in the next size up (usual brand/style so expect no fit issues) but the bloody things are still sat there 18 months on! He's gone up two clothing sizes in that time.

You're not the only one! My DS is 8, 4ft6 and in age 10/11 clothing, but has tiny little size 1 feet. I look at him and wonder how he stays up! He's still in the school shoes I bought this time last year! If they weren't scuffed to hell I wouldn't bother getting him new ones for the new term.
