to think we should have a 'dull' section on MN?

Just seems like there's always something you need or would like to know but it's so incredibly boring you'd be ashamed to put in chat or any other section.

At least if it was seen as a given that everything in that section was boring, people wouldn't feel embarrassed about asking dull questions. I know there's pedant's corner but that seems more geared to discussions about how highly educated the pedantic posters are and how thick everyone else is. Just a thought. I'd love to see a place on the forum where everyone can be their most boring selves with impunity.

flyover I wasn't kidding about the marshmallows.

flyoverthehill · 03/08/2012 15:48

mardy I must go and find that it sounds great !

flyoverthehill · 03/08/2012 16:03

mardy I had a look and now I want to stick needles in my eyes !!

bee169 · 03/08/2012 16:47

What kind of numpty does not know where to buy marshmallows??!!

What about a repitition corner...

^^ I agree with this

It could be called "Done to Death"

FeakAndWeeble · 03/08/2012 17:23

It's not a good hot biscuit smell though, it's like that waft you get off of a Rich Tea when you've dunked it in your tea. Like... wet, bland biscuit, not like oooh lovely choccie bourbon smothered in coffee or anything.

Maybe people could just use this parituclar thread to post their incredibly dull problems on?

madmomma · 03/08/2012 21:56

well mixed responses to my very tedious question. It seems permission to be unashamedly dull has not been unanimously granted. I shall have to go back to talking to the voices in my head Grin mardy yes, the marshmallow question would come under the dull remit, but dull and stupid is a dangerous mix as I've illustrated

If my cu#t smelt of hot biccies, my greedy dh may go up there a bit more often!

flyoverthehill · 03/08/2012 22:53

I wanted to know something really boring...how do you get the milk monitor to delete your messages for breaking the rules. AND I'm really annoyed because the milk monitor did delete one of my messages ..... and I cant remember what I'd said...... fuck fuck fuck must try harder !!!!!!!

MyinnergoddessisatLidl · 03/08/2012 23:09

But the great thing about MN is that a thread can start as really boring, then a few posters hijack and it becomes anything but....

The next thing you know your talking about your elderly neighbours pampas grass signalling their penchant for jacuzzi orgies and you've completely forgotten your original question of how long you need to soak your borlotti beans!

LineRunnerSpartanNaked · 03/08/2012 23:30

I bought some tumble dry Lenor sheets today for two pounds and fifty earth pence and they smell utterly overpowering and they are still in the box in the cupboard.

Yeah, that's pretty fucking dull. Would stick it on the Drunk Thread, though.

LineRunnerSpartanNaked · 03/08/2012 23:32

TwoSteps 'Done to Death Corner'. Genius Grin

Cailleach · 03/08/2012 23:37

Alright, I'll give it a go....

I never can get the grout in my kitchen clean - tried everything, bleach, toothbrush and toothpaste, steam cleaning, the works. No dice, still green (?!) in places and horrible looking.

It's only been done three years too.

(Is this dull enough?)

LineRunnerSpartanNaked · 03/08/2012 23:40

Cailleach, that's fairly dull, although my suggested answer (Cillit Bang Lime and Grime, leave on for a good 20 minutes) is possibly duller.

SoleSource · 03/08/2012 23:47

Agrees with twosteps.

SilkySmith · 03/08/2012 23:50

I would definitely use a "first world problem" section to post things that seem too dull to post in regular sections!

SilkySmith · 03/08/2012 23:51

just re-grout it, so much easier!

madmomma · 03/08/2012 23:52

I welcome dullness. I love the mundane. It's not a crime to be a dullard.

I was once talking to my son about limestone and he simply left the room.

madmomma · 03/08/2012 23:54

maybe I'll start a website called stopaclock.com and have a forum where competitive dullness is encouraged. Extra marks for adding abject stupidity into the mix --jesus is this really what the school holidays does to me?-

OP posts:
LineRunnerSpartanNaked · 03/08/2012 23:56

Can we merge it with paintdry.com for completeness?

usualsuspect · 03/08/2012 23:57

I like dull sometimes.

Although the washing up thread was a step to far TBH.

icecold · 04/08/2012 00:00

feak I get that smell too. Have you got a condensing drier?

Empty the water after evetytime you use it, and the filters...that usually improves mine.

Also, if it Does smell, I blast them on proper hot for a bit, do the clothes are really really dry

I LOVE innane crap...I would live in the boring corner, if there was one...

KatyMac · 04/08/2012 00:03

Oh a 'Dull' bit

I could live there......

MyinnergoddessisatLidl · 04/08/2012 00:05

Sometimes I start a conversation on these things with my husband, and I stop mid sentence because I actually realise I am boring myself.

I think the last one was about recycling a patio heater.....
