Well, better to start from a position of clean/tidy, surely?

I would certainly rather do it now than after they are in bed. After they are in bed I want my feet up!

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 03/08/2012 10:20

One mn suggested 15 min in each room.

Works for me. Clean after breakfast while they play in one or two rooms.

When ready Togo out for the day, throw all the toys they're playing with in relevant boxes and go.

Then I can come home to a tidy house. Cook tea. Bath kids. Bed time. Me time.

Deep cleaning when no kids in house or if we're at home for tge day. but general stuff everyday.

I pick up and clean up after them during the day but cleaning kitchen/bathroom, sweeping floors, sorting crap always happens when they're in bed. Sadly, that has become my me time. I also bake a lot around midnight. Actually, I'm in the wrong job, I could be earning money for nighttime baking if i wasn't so shite at it! :o

I pay the (10 & 8yo) DCs sweatshop rates to clean the house for me.
This morning they have done:
Dusting living room
Vacuuming hallway
Emptying and filling the dishwasher
Cleaning the kitchen cupboards
Putting a wash on
Pegging another wash out

I'm letting them have a break to watch the handball, They might do some gardening later.
The trick is to play them off against each other.

IOutrunBoltInMySpareTime I like your style!!

make them play outside while you get straight. They should pick up their own toys so you can clean when they are done.

CogitoErgOlympics · 03/08/2012 11:12

YABU... DC's make a mess but can also help with tidying up. Gets them into a good habit.
