I am 26 weeks gone but a very heavily pregnant 26 weeks gone.

I'm overweight to begin with a 20/22 things are getting in small supply to what still fits me, I'm keen to get out and and about more, but I need to find something decent that still fits me.
I'm a bit funny about wearing trackies in public at the risk of being called a chav. But I don't see I have much choice :/ AIBU???

Well it depends. Will you be wearing anything on your top half?

squeakytoy · 02/08/2012 23:04

unless you are Kate Middleton, is anyone else really going to notice?

bringbacksideburns · 02/08/2012 23:06

Yes this is acceptable.
As long as you don't tuck them into your socks.

FoxyRevenger · 02/08/2012 23:08

I'm 35 weeks and they are my uniform at home, but I've not managed to bring myself to wear them outside yet either Grin

lastnerve · 02/08/2012 23:08

Haha depends if anything still fits the top half.

for some reason my trousers seem to get tight before my top half does.

I know logically people have better things to worry about but I worry people will sneer :/

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 02/08/2012 23:10

Lastnerve, if you can manage some clothes for your top half, then YANBU :)

lastnerve · 02/08/2012 23:11

I think it's best to do everything in your power to avoid public tracksuit wearing unless you are obviously exercising, doesn't Evans do big sizes? I'm sure you'd get something to fit that would be much nicer than tracksuit bottoms. yanbu if you do resort to them but they do look as if the wearer has given up so probably not best for your self esteem.

FoxyRevenger · 02/08/2012 23:31

It is! Next I'll be nipping down the shops in my jammies...

I've adopted a strict uniform of wrap dress over leggings and even then I don't feel 'properly' dressed. Went out for dinner wearing leggings on Friday night and just felt like I hadn't made an effort.

fishface2 · 02/08/2012 23:37

The trick is to wear them like you're properly exercising rather than going to hang outside a shop so proper trainers etc.

lastnerve · 03/08/2012 12:44

Yeah I need a trip to evans probably just pricey arrggh if trackies were fashionable life would be simpler.

You could pretend you're just coming back from pregnancy yoga Grin

RoseWay · 03/08/2012 14:32

Come to East London and blend in. I live on the high street and a quick glance confirms that more women are wearing trackies than anything else. Ideally though they must have writing on the bum and be worn with big earrings, not sports ones. PJs I think are only acceptable for the school run or supermarket, not wandering around.

On a serious note, in this weather I'm finding maxi dresses great.

Zalen · 03/08/2012 15:39

OK, this is reminding me of a book my mum had when she was pregnant and lent to me (at my request - I needed a good laugh) when I was pregnant. One of the gems it had to offer was on the subject of footwear. Apparently flatties are fine within the home but obviously heels must still be worn when out in public.

You're pregnant, you have more than enough to worry about without worrying about the fashion police. If trackies are comfortable then wear them and if anyone has a problem with that then it's their problem not yours!

But do wear something on the top half ;-)

KellyElly · 03/08/2012 17:52

Get yourself a juicy couture tracksuit and a pair of uggs and do the footballers wife look :)

Wigglewoo · 03/08/2012 21:07

Mamas and papas do some brilliant preggy trackies.... I lived in mine! :)

Who cares...pregnancy is uncomfortable ennough without trying to squeeze yourself in horrid tight trousers / jeans etc.

Matalan does excellent t shirts to go with the trackies :)

Normally I'd never be seen dead in trackies but when pregnant they were my uniform!

lastnerve · 03/08/2012 21:11

I will have a browse!!!

The bobble trick is already wearing thing aha

jojomamanbebe do fantastic maternity yoga pants which are very generously sized. I am presently a size 20/22 and can very comfortably wear their size 18.

they are so comfortable I cried when I put them away after dd1 was born. I think they are about £20
