To want to kill the fuckers at TESCO mobile customer care

In June I got a ten pounds a month (capped hurrah) mobile from TESCO arsing mobile for my 14 year old DS,

He was very happy, but after about a week the touch screen stopped working. We sent it back to TESCO be repaired, and everything went horribly wrong.

We got a note through the door a few days later to say someone had tried to deliver a parcel, our address, completely wrong name. I went to the parcel office and explained I was expecting a repaired mobile, and asked if the packet was from Tesco, They said yes it was, but of course they couldn't let me have it because it wasn't in my name.

I rang TESCO sodding mobile, who said looked into it and said oooooh yes, we did send the phone to your address but someone has sent it to a Dominic Callaghan, not you. They didn't apologise, and acted as if it was a weird act of God, and said they didn't know why anyone would have used that name and not mine.

They said they would repair the phone, and send it out to me (right name) in seven days.

Seven days later, no phone. I waited a bit longer to see if it would turn up.

(Apparently TESCO frigging mobile sent it out AGAIN to the wrong name, right address, and it was sent back to the Royal Mail, an they are still holding it. It never even reached me, I never even got a note through the door to say they had tried to deliver it. I only found this out this evening).

Anyway, now it's July. I called TESCO cunting mobile again, and got Josh, who was very truculent and he said they had no record of the mobile number I had given him. I went and checked, it was the number of my son's (much missed and now a distant memory)mobile phone. He still said there was no record of that number and they had a different one for my son that I had never heard of.

I got annoyed. He said he would get onto the repair centre and call me in an hour. He didn't.

Now it's evening time. I have been hanging on to TESCO shitting mobile for 48 minutes precisely. They still say that they haven't heard of the number I gave them, they have a different number for my son's mobile, and they have no record of any previous conversations with me, and they don't know why they keep sending mobile phones to my address in the name of Dominic Callaghan.

The person I have been talking to is going to try and make sure they send it out addressed to the right person this time. It won't be until the middle of next week that it can be sent out to me because it is still being held by the Royal Mail. I am of course still paying for this and I have no faith in their ability to address anything properly.

If you've got this far and aren't asleep, well done.

Am I unreasonable to be ranting and raving?

def not unreasonable. death by firing squad Grin

Dawndonna · 02/08/2012 20:07

Bet they'd find you pdq if you cancelled the direct debit.
Some people have had success on here by using the tesco facebook/twitter pages. May be worth a try.

Kaloobear · 02/08/2012 20:07

YANBU to be furious. It sounds like Tesco need to train their staff and sort out their communication issues. It's probably not the fault of the individuals in the call centre but somebody should be taking responsibility.

CommaChameleon · 02/08/2012 20:10

YANBU. Tesco mobile customer care should get their act together, that is appalling service.

Weasleyismyking · 02/08/2012 20:12

Angry Leave the bastards! Wink

rhondajean · 02/08/2012 20:30

Ffs. Come to Vodafone, I find they actually give a shit when I've had an issue.

Could be worse though, you could be with orange.

rubycon · 02/08/2012 20:44

you are joking rhondajean? Took me three weeks to get my money back off them for a phone they sold me that they hadn't got in stock in the first place.

Morph2 · 02/08/2012 21:13

are they actually going to repair it as i had a mobile from tesco, i'd only had it a couple of months and the screen went wrong, they said the screen wasn't covered by warranty and wouldn't fixed/ refund anything. Wish i'd taken it further looking back but i was pregnant at the time and it was really stressing me out- plus i needed a phone

Mellower · 02/08/2012 21:16

YUNBU Idiots. Leave them. Rave at them, rant at them, shout lots!!! Angry

rhondajean · 02/08/2012 21:21

Ruby, if you think that's bad, seriously try orange, they owe me several hundred pounds, the saga is so long I've blotted most of it from my mind.

Vodafone do make mistakes but I have never known them not to rectify it, even at their expense.

I haven't heard many bad reports about tesco up until now though, is the op still on the phone?

WildWorld2004 · 02/08/2012 21:23

I had a friend once who sent a parcel to my DD & gave her a conpletely differeng surname. Went to Post Office collection office gave them the card & got the parcel. No questions asked.

Have no experience with Tesco mobile. Sorry OP. i would just keep on at them.

myfriendflicka · 05/08/2012 16:43

Thank you for all your helpful replies.

I had a panic after I posted this and ran away (even thought I am furious with Tesco). I am more of a lurker than a poster!

I am still waiting but I will see what happens in the week (after I posted the lad I spoke to came back and was a bit more helpful).

It doesn't look as if it will be sorted out quickly though!

Tesco is part of O2, the call centre is in the O2 building so don't let them fob you off by pretending they are a small service, rant all you can!!!

WithoutCaution · 05/08/2012 18:02

Ring them back and ask to speak to whoever answers line manager. If the line manager proves to be a useless cunt ask to speak to their manager. Send a letter/email of complaint

therumoursaretrue · 05/08/2012 18:14

Ah see rhonda I am with Orange and love them. Never have any trouble.

O2 on the other hand owe me several hundred pounds and I had countless phone calls and a lot of hassle from them after they messed up.

Leads me to believe all phone companies are as bad as each other in most respects!

ihatebrighton · 18/02/2013 19:47

i've been having crap off them for the last 3 1/2 months on a repair.they even supplied me with a replacement phone that was blacklisted and returned it back to me when it went for repair (same phone went back for same fault 3 times) saying they couldn't repair it as it's blacklisted.

no shite sherlock, you supplied it like it why send it back to me, what am i going to do with it.communication between the phone operators and the engineers are pants, and an engineer did extensive tests on my phone and couldn't replicate the fault - i did in less than 30 seconds as did the shop assistant at tesco mobile.not only could he not find a fault but didn't realise it was blacklisted either.i'd like to know what the extensive tests involved.

a massive pile of shite.
