Didn't we gave this thread recently?

The majority thought that actually if you have several kids it makes sense to seat them while you get food to save them getting in the way of hot food/people.

Windsock · 02/08/2012 16:04

yup

No, the problem is people who are too daft to share a table. Why would you buy food then mooch around like a pillock looking for a seat? If I pay for a meal I want to be sure I can eat it there.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 02/08/2012 16:07

Sorry my error.

People with no excuse who do this- yes they're nobs. Grin

dexter73 · 02/08/2012 16:09

When my dd was little I asked an old lady at a table for 4 if she minded us sitting with her. She said 'I would rather you didn't'!!! I said 'oh well' and sat down anyway and let my dd be a bit noisy and messy just to piss her off.

Spuddybean · 02/08/2012 16:09

no i don't agree, because if there is a chance that after queuing for ages i will be standing there with a tray of hot food and nowhere to sit and eat it then i would go elsewhere. I would never queue up without knowing i had somewhere to sit and eat.

Dprince · 02/08/2012 16:09

I get why people do it. There is nowhere enough seats in most shopping centres. Most people want to eat their food hot.
Although looking at the OP and the 'exceptions' seems like it only applies to young and fit people. So they should eat their food cold?

Tictactoc · 02/08/2012 16:10

Are you a tad grumpy today? Wink

And how do you hog WiFi?

MrsKeithRichards · 02/08/2012 16:10

I was in Ikea recently and a group of 3 adults sat at a table a girl who was about 7 was saving for her mum. Poor wee thing must have felt so awkward. Total bullying behaviour, they would never have done that to an adult.

Spuddybean · 02/08/2012 16:11

Dexter - and therefore justified to her why she didn't want you sitting there in the first place!

CleoSmackYa · 02/08/2012 16:11

I always make sure I've got a seat first. I don't want to buy food and then have nowhere to sit and eat it!

VolAuVent · 02/08/2012 16:12

Shock at "I would rather you didn't"!

Petsinmyolympicpudenda · 02/08/2012 16:12

YABU
Why would I but food to eat if i couldn't sit down to eat it.

Trills · 02/08/2012 16:14

YABU, they are being perfectly sensible, if there is a group of you it makes sense for some to sit down and not get in the way of the are where people should queue and pick things up.

Trills · 02/08/2012 16:14

We have this thread all the time and nobody ever changes their mind.

mayorquimby · 02/08/2012 16:14

Why in the hell would people with kids be exempt, they're often the most likely to act like entitled nobs

ElectricSoftParade · 02/08/2012 16:14

This subject did cross my mind today as I was scanning McDonalds the eating establishment to see if there were any seats free.

I always make sure there is somewhere for us to sit before buying. Would not buy the food and then start searching, just doesn't make sense to me.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 02/08/2012 16:21

YABU. It doesn't take four kids and two adults to wait in a queue at McDonalds. They would get in the way. Much better to have them sitting down and not encouraging others to spill their diet coke and ensure that once you have paid for six meals that you have somewhere to sit.

dexter73 · 02/08/2012 16:21

Spuddybean - if she had been more polite then so would I. It was just the way she said it really pissed me off.

SparklingGoldMedals · 02/08/2012 16:22

I do tend to think if there is a queue out of the door at the counter and all the seats in the place are full it's not worth bothering TBH.

WildWorld2004 · 02/08/2012 16:22

I find it a bit strange that u would go into a place, buy food & then have no where to sit to eat it.

I always find a table and then get my food.

valiumredhead · 02/08/2012 16:23

What happens when I have bought food and then can't sit anywhere?

SparklingGoldMedals · 02/08/2012 16:24

At a lot of pubs you have to go and find a table and give them the table number when you order don't you? You get a table first. or are we just talking about self service?
