To not want anymore periods?

I hate them. They do my head in. The monthly cramps, aches and back pains. Not to mention the crap mood swings before after and during. Also having to use horrid lavender scented pads because my tampon wearing days are over, thanks dcs.
How do I get rid of them?

Can anyone answer this? My periods were fab after Dc1, really light and not painful. Now after Dc2 they have gone back to heavy and painful Sad

I don't do well with hormones at all, tried all hormonal contraceptives and the side effects are not worth it. Any suggestions?

another vote for cerazette. I was on it for about 4 years, only came off to ttc.

I ran Microgrynon Pill packs for years. Male Drs told me sternly that I shouldn't, female Drs said "Meh".

It was a female Dr who told me that's what she did (she's a relative) and neither of us had any problems conceiving.

I have the Mirena Coil in now which has been fab for me, no periods at all.
(I know some have had a bad time with it but you can't know until you try

I am also looking for inspiration but have a slightly different requirement as I can't have children so don't need a contraception but there is nothing really on the market that works! I have been put on Cerazette as desperate to get rid of the pain and cramps but not impressed at the moment as on my second period in 3 weeks. I need something though as we have just adopted my little dude and need to be able to function which is not possible for 2 days a month!! Pain is ok now but just a hassle and don't really want to be messing with hormones!

I hate the fact I have them when they are no good to me and just a nuisance which get in the way and the timing is always perfect esp when we go camping!

Ideas please!

Very very Envy at those of you who have managed to remain periodless with your Mirenas. I'm still regular as rain with mine, although a bit lighter than before. The acne has been hell for me, however.

Merina coil is doing great for me.

vodkaanddietirnbru · 02/08/2012 19:05

depo - constant spotting for months and put on hundreds of weight(gave up after 2nd injection
femulen and micronor mini-pills - fortnightly periods
cerazette mini pill - no periods for 3 years
mirena coil - a few odd days of spotting and nothing else (only had it in 4 months though)

Thegoddessblossom · 02/08/2012 19:13

Sorry only read 1st and last page of thread but.....

Another vote here for depo. I have used it for a long time.

Came off it for both pregnancies, fell straight away both times.
No periods, spotting, PMT, nothing
No weight gain. Will prob get flamed for this but the depo hormone/pill don't actually make you gain weight in themselves. They increase appetite and cravings. If you succumb to them you eat more and thus gain weight. If you exercise self control you eat sensibly and don't gain weight. I've never gained weight on the pill or depo.

big big fan and advocate of the injection here, and love that I never have to worry about periods or PMT - ever.

Once I've had this baby and done feeding, I am so looking forward to depo! I had a shot for ivf and it was bloody amazing. I woke up the same person every single day for 15 days, I had barely any joint pain, my breasts didn't feel massive lumps of bruised tissue and I didn't have a single headache. Add to that the joys of no agonising period pain/heavy bleeding, and I can't wait :0)
Didn't seem to have any side effects for me at all, I must have been lucky.
