To think ONE toilet is just inadequate?!?!

I work in an office where there are, on a daily basis, 15 ladies in-situ (more when there are meetings going on), but we only have one female loo in our office.......surely thats too many people and not enough toilets?!?!

There are only 3 men who are stationed in the building most days and they too have one loo.

The worst thing is, is that our loo now won't flush and we are waiting for it to be repaired. Luckily, the office floor above us is empty and we are able to use that, but still......15 women.......1 loo.....what do you think?!?

Why do you have to have male/female loos if they are single seperate toilets? Just call 'em both unisex, 9pp loo.

That does seem a bit low. I would expext 2 toilets for that many members of staff, especially if you have lots of meetings going on.

Thought this was going to be about a house .. But that does sound unreasonable (remember sharing a loo but there were about 7 women).

I am almost certain that there are health and safety regs about this.

I think one loo is fine for that number of people, especially if there are loos on other floors which can be used in extremis.

By your calculation the floor I used to work on would have needed 6 female toilets.

This says there should be 2 for women

so if both loos on each floor are in sepperate rooms that each have the ability to be locked from the inside. then its probally ok

out of intrest how many loos are in the buliding?

My floor has about 30 women and two cubicles, with one teeny sink with no surround to put makeup or anything on. There are about 15 men on the floor. They have 3 cubicles, 3 urinals and 3 sinks. Most of the men are in positions senior to the women. Makes me very angry.

Sounds ok to me. I work in a school with 40+ staff and we have two toilets for adults to use. Seems to work ok. Go before you leave home !

socknicking - in the whole building there are 4 toilets, two are situated on the floor above which has not been rented out and we really have no right to go up there.....but we do!

We had a similar situation at our work - 2 bathrooms with 3 toilets each, plus one disabled toilet.

They were originally designated as 1 bathroom for men, 1 bathroom for women, disabled as unisex.

A visiting client then complained that there weren't enough mens toilets according to HSE regs (there are a lot more men than women in our office), so the management changed both bathrooms to men only, and designated the disabled toilet as women and disabled men only.

Us women weren't happy about this, especially when a few more women started working, so we complained to management citing the HSE regs that said we needed 2 womens toilets.

The result? 1 bathroom men only, disabled toilet women and disabled men only, and the remaining bathroom unisex. With sanitary bins only provided in one of the three cubicles and men frequently missing the toilet bowls and peeing all over the floor

So anyway, if you complain, as you're not supposed to be on the next floor you may end up with unisex toilets.
