AIBU to think that if Dh hasn't heard anything by now he hasn't got the job?? -

Dh went for a 2nd interview on Thursday, which apprantly went very well. At the end of the interview he was told that he would find out how he did by COP Monday. We know that the relevant managers & Hr met on Friday afternoon to discuss. I think that if he had been successful then he would have heard back this morning and that by waiting until the afternoon then they just don't want to deliver bad news at the start of a working day.

So much depends on this, not just finincial but after the string of interviews DH's confidence as well, which is why my stomach is in knots with this. I'm encouraging with Dh but sectretly I think that he should he should have heard something.

Any other perspectves???

Not really, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for him!
I'd also add that my son was kept waiting for 2 weeks after they told him they would get back to him - and he was offered the job! (He didn't take it in the end, but that's another point)

I think you could be being a bit hasty...they said Monday so i'd at least wait till this evening before pangs of doubt started to set in

If he still hasn't heard by say Wednesday or Thursday then i'd probably conclude that your DH has been unlucky on this occasion

I do hope your DH gets the job though, fingers crossed for you all

For my current job, I assumed I hadn't gotten it because I hadn't heard anything after almost a week. Then suddenly, one my coworkers, who was a reference, got a call asking about me. So hopes went up. And they did call me just over a week after interview to offer me the job.

So 1.5 business days after interview is too early to give up hope I think.

MrsKeithRichards · 30/07/2012 12:48

In my job now I hadn't even got home before they called! But I didn't accept until whe Monday, this was the Friday. I had to make sure I could manage with child care etc.

So things like that can hold things up.

There is nothing wrong with contacting the company and asking if the timeline for notification has changed. I assume he sent at least a thank you and hope to hear from you soon email after his interview on Thursday?

Also, just because they said they were going to meet Friday doesn't mean they did. They might have had to postpone it for a myriad of reasons.

If they said COP Monday, I don't think you should panic yet!

WilsonFrickett · 30/07/2012 13:12

It's not cop Monday yet! They could have been seeing more candidates today, for example, which is why they said they'd let people know at the end of the day. FWIW 'we'll let you know by x' usually means 'we'll have chosen who we wanted by x' but then there's still we need to tell person Y before we tell the candidate (and person Y is off) or we need to run the salary past someone else (who is in a meeting) etc etc - I wouldn't panic yet.

Lambzig · 30/07/2012 13:12

Yes definitely don't panic. Anything could have happened on the decision/meeting etc. DH was told they would get him back in in a couple of weeks for a first interview for a job in April. He had that second interview in june, a third a couple of weeks ago and looks like he will get an offer letter (fingers crossed) in the next couple of weeks.

Definitely dont get your DH to call before tomorrow. If he has an email contact he could email them tomorrow maybe?

Glittertwins · 30/07/2012 13:15

I know how you must feel. I was convinced that it was a no go as each stage took longer and longer to hear back from. From start to finish, it took 3 months for the job to come through for DH. Even with the best will in the world, people can be ill and not be available for the meeting. DH did get the job and really enjoys it.
