I just don't get it!

Why does not being interested make you chippy?
We don't all have to like the same things, you know. If one of the things you like about this is its celebration of "quirkiness", surely the quirks of those of us who don;t give a shit are also to be celebrated?

Nancy66 · 27/07/2012 22:46

i think, on the whole, it was really good - kind of lost it's way with the musical/digital age section (for me) but loved the rest of it.

bigkidsdidit · 27/07/2012 22:47

I thought it was fab. We can't compete on strength and numbers like Beijing did. So why not celebrate things that we actually enjoy in daily life, like texting and rave Grin

Danny Boyle is very brave but has pulled it ff I think

But I've had wine

charleneanne · 27/07/2012 22:47

complete and utter shit, fuck the olympics only twats watch it

echt · 27/07/2012 22:47

Checking in from Australia here, up at 6.00.a.m. to watch it.

I loved it, its knowing cheesiness and real celebration of Britain, especially of the NHS. Up yours, Cameron. I hope it pissed him off royally.
Have a feeling that the Queen's acting role will have quelled any chance of the monarchy shuffling away any time soon (and I'm no monarchist).

A word of praise for the nicely retro Australian team uniforms: the green and gold was a horrid choice for the national colours, when those of the flag are beautiful, but there you go.

LetsKateWin · 27/07/2012 22:47

I'm pretty sure the teams were filming it at the last Olympics. Why shouldn't they?

Aboutlastnight · 27/07/2012 22:48

I loved it. So glad it wasn't taken over by celebs, I thought the music bit was brilliant, loved the dancing. Lived it all and am not even drunk.

Hurrah for the first time I am
Proud to be British.

CarlaBruni · 27/07/2012 22:48

I didn't think it was all Londoncentric (despite it being the London Olympics) Felt quite Northern and lefty (being Danny Boyle) There was even a clip from Kes - how can that ever be wrong?

noodleone · 27/07/2012 22:48

Wellies? Wtf!

Aboutlastnight · 27/07/2012 22:48

And the Australians are enormous!

Hulababy · 27/07/2012 22:49

We really enjoyed it. 10y dd loved it, although she's gone to bed not athletes have started. Want to see the torch bit. Have to be up to go n holiday st 6 but hey ho.

usualsuspect · 27/07/2012 22:49

Nah, It was londoncentric

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 27/07/2012 22:50

Oh no please tell me it wasn't banging on about the bloody NHS?

bigkidsdidit · 27/07/2012 22:50

Well, yes, it's the London Olympics not England

Pagwatch · 27/07/2012 22:50

Yes chareleneanne, I am sure you are right. And you are watching it....

usualsuspect · 27/07/2012 22:50

Just like everything that happens in this country. Lets celebrate London and fuck everyone else.

ahopskipandafurryone · 27/07/2012 22:50

I'm loving it, it's been a bit bonkers, but that's a lot better than boring!

The opening bit with the singing made me cry and feel very homesick though.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/07/2012 22:50

Charleneane - nah babe, say what you really think Grin

Hulababy · 27/07/2012 22:51

Teams have taken photos and films on the parade in past too, not just since mobiles either. They just want to have the memories on film. Can understand that.

Nancy66 · 27/07/2012 22:51

it's LONDON 2012...of course it's going to celebrate London

usualsuspect · 27/07/2012 22:52

Yeah, Good old London eh?

No one else exists in the UK right?

usualsuspect · 27/07/2012 22:54

I thought it was supposed to be a celebration of the UK, must have got the wrong end of the stick up my arse Grin

ahopskipandafurryone · 27/07/2012 22:54

I think it was actually quite inclusive of the rest of the UK tbh,

echt · 27/07/2012 22:55

Don't be embarrassed about the NHS being on, I was proud to hear the approving commentary by the Aussie commentators over here.

Good on Danny Boyle for this.

londone17 · 27/07/2012 22:55

They did include Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
