To be annoyed about noise levels from neighbours right now?

Neighbours are a couple in their 40s. They've had some sort of dinner party. Kitchen/dining room is at back of the house and they have big doors that are open on to the garden. They are making a hell of a racket with their guests. I have work in the morning. Am I unreasonable to be annoyed? When is unacceptable for that sort of noise on a week night. I could close my windows but it's uncomfortably hot and is a bit of a pain given I'm not the one making unsociable noise. Or am I over reacting? Maybe it's not so bad. What do people think?

My neighbours are like this pretty much all the time, so I sympathise. I think after 10 on a week night is pretty bad.

Rule of thumb is 11pm.

Midnight would be when I would complain if I were you.

sensuallettuce · 26/07/2012 22:55

You might be my neighbours Confused

It's fine if it's a one-off, I'd complain after midnight
If it happens all the time, I'd complain now

It is a one off on a weeknight anyway. I don't want to create ill feeling by asking them to keep the noise down. Annoying thing is last night I enjoyed some wines in the garden with a friend and we came in at 9 thinking we didn't want to disturb them and their children.

SensualLettuce - if it's you would you mind just closing your doors now. Grin waiting to hear if the door closes now.

I'd close my doors because it's bloody freezing, here! Even if it wasn't, I hate the moths and bugs that come in after dark.

I'd not be uptight about a one off.

Our neighbours have a boisterous night about every other weekend. I'll not complain because my kids are often up and noisy at 5am (DS2 is a constant squealer and and DS1 goes into a noisy rage at least once a day) and don't stop being noisy until they finally get to sleep at night. The family across the road who has an annual party in the summer involving either karaoke or loads of drum n bass bug me more.

Just for clarity, I live in a terrace - noise isn't travelling through open doors!

If its a one off I'd let it go but I do get a bit annoyed when anyone is making a noise after 10 on a week night, its just inconsiderate imo.

My neighbours are currently outside having a rather loud argument with their neighbours on the other side about parking, its been brewing for weeks and they finally snapped, I'm giving them another 10mins before I go out and tell them to shut the fuck up because I'd really like to go to sleep soon!

Has the noise stopped yet, OP?
