and kind of shake my head in a 'now I have seen everything' way?

I work next to the entrance to a school (access road for our car park and the school STAFF car park run along our building) - parents park there at every drop off and pick up, blocking us in and double parking all alone the double yellows

anyway I DIGRESS - last day of PRIMARY school and the entrance to our car park was blocked ...by a GIANT white Hummer Limo - there wasn't a 'prom' or anything some parent had just decided to hire it to take their yr 6 child home - why ?? why why why?

Honestly I admit I did massive rolly eyes

I am a cunt aren't I

Oh and it wasn't any old mega Hummer limo - It was the 'nightclub on wheels' - for a child!

Tacky. Probably paid for by benefits. Was there a goat in the back?

CrocSaysTickTock · 25/07/2012 22:17

No, I'd be a judgy-pants about that too. Its materialistic and vein and completely unnecessary.

ReindeerBollocks · 25/07/2012 22:17

That is a bit odd. I get why leaving primary is a big thing, but this is excessive to say the least (I'd have rolled eyes and tutted too - guess that makes me a cunt as well then).

I never understood why parents park on yellow lines so they are being arseholes for that misdemeanour alone, let alone the fact it blocks in two sets of workers.

ScarletSmellyFeet · 25/07/2012 22:17

You're possibly a cunt for missing the ? Off the end of your question but for the rest of your post I will nod my head with you and join in a massive why sigh.

CrocSaysTickTock · 25/07/2012 22:18

Grrr, bloody auto-correct. I, of course, meant vain not vein.

WorraLiberty · 25/07/2012 22:18

It was probably for a class Birthday party

Did you spot one little child who wasn't invited and a bunch of angry Mumsnetters demanding to know the reason why? Grin

TiggyD · 25/07/2012 22:20

Maybe the child's parent own it and have a rental business?

landofsoapandglory · 25/07/2012 22:20

OMG my sister did this for her DGD last week. I did massive rolly eyes when I saw it on Fb!

I'm a cunt too, aren't I?

gordyslovesheep · 25/07/2012 22:22

CrispyCod · 25/07/2012 22:23

Was it a traveller family?

gordyslovesheep · 25/07/2012 22:24

No idea Crispy - it is a Catholic school though so it may have been

HappyAsChips · 25/07/2012 22:24

Good god, how tacky. My daughter would have been mortified at the very idea on her last day of primary ( or any day for that matter...)

Babylon1 · 25/07/2012 22:27

I'm afraid I don't get any of this leaving primary celebration / high school prom stuff - isn't it just americanised tradition bought over here to make more expense for parents??

I don't think YABU op, I would have been the same.

LaurieFairyCake · 25/07/2012 22:34

There's something massively wrong about such ostentatious displays of wealth - it makes me feel slightly vommy.

In fact my lip has curled so far back its twitching.

SoleSource · 25/07/2012 23:34

Nightclub on wheels lol. Trust Worra to think that hahaha

Pixel · 25/07/2012 23:51

I couldn't believe a story in our local paper today, some parents had booked a Hummer to pick their year 6 children up from school and drive them around for an hour. The firm had gone bust so the car hadn't turned up. Children reported to be in floods of tears and I suppose they would have been disappointed so I had some sympathy. Until I read from a mother "the children were devastated, some of them said they didn't want to go to school anymore". FGS, it's a ride in a big car, what's that got to do with going to school?

Babylon1 · 26/07/2012 00:55

I had a limo booked for my hen do, and jeez even I thought that was being tacky Blush

I really really just don't get it!!
