AIBU?

To post the registrations of all the cars in Blue Badge spaces without a BB at Brockwell Lido this morning?

Every single BB space was full, and no car was displaying a BB. This happens every sunny day. I took photographs of the number plates of every car, and a pic showing how they were parked.

This doesn't affect me personally atm, but has done in the past when DS was a wheelchair user.

The people you need to talk to are brockwell lido. They need to be calling out for Reg No XXXX Please move your car from the disabled bay...

The Lido do nothing. The council do nothing. I complained repeatedly when DS had a BB. It is a free car park and no-one monitors it.

We have a horrible situation where we are. DM has a blue badge (amputee and very, very limited mobility) and near the beauty spot we go to, there's a blue badge spot off a pedestrianises road. We get so much abuse and black looks as we drive along, even though the blue badge is on display!

Last year, some busybody called the police. The police even came! But backed off when they spoke to us and saw the badge.

But it makes my DM so mortified.

Do it, I started taking photos outside of my charges school when we have been unable to park thanks to the two disabled spots being gone to selfish asshats running into coop for five mins Hmm

Send the pics to the local council, in thee least it'll make them send traffic wardens round to check more often!

It's a free car park within a park, so not controlled by parking attendants. The council / Lido's response in previous years when sunny weather makes the car park fill up with idiots is to close the car park all together - including the disabled spaces.

But I thought BMWs were allowed to park in BB spaces?? Wink

There are also some stickers you can buy to stick on windscreens of non BB displayers. Tells them what prats they are for having done so Wink

But some of them might be parents with children, Blu. Think of the kiddies. Anyway everyone knows that BB drivers are not properly disabled anyway, some of them can walk and everything...

....or at least that's what gets repeated time and time again on the 'AIBU to pinch just one little space for a disabled person who probably isn't disabled anyway' threads, innit.

Do send it to the South London Press too. I think they'd quite like that. I fondly remember when they published the names and addresses (street name only) of everyone prosecuted for kerbcrawling locally.

We were there Monday and people were parked in any possible space, to the point where I'm sure a bunch of cars got blocked in. We paid nine quid to park on the street. Yanbu but I can also see that people just get a bit desperate and assume those spaces will go unused.

Btw, we did see a police car come in later and apparently take a look around but they didn't seem to be doing anything.

From what I observed last time I was there, and I might be wrong, but it looked like it was staff/security people parking in the spaces. I remember one very fit looking chap in lido uniform parked up and then leaping over the small carpark fence.

I am not defending anyone but............
crohns etc are not covered by a blue badge in spite of the quite nasty side affects of said disease :{
I am guilty of parking there when I shouldn't have done but being caked in poo does that to someone.........
I admire you though :}
Waves to Maryz who I haven't seen for a bit.........

I love the idea of a Shame That Twat column Grin

and I remember the little series they did publicising kerb crawlers.

So they might be up for this.

Chandillina - I can see how people get desperate but I can't see how any decent person then thinks 'so I'll use the disabled space'. The police come because of checking access - whihc is why the Lido then close the car park - because a gridlocked car park prevents access for emergency vehicles should they be called.

Two of these cars had actually left the BB space free - but parke carefully alongside the two sides of the space not boundaried by the fence - so a free square completely blocked in. True twats.

Wannabe - sympathies, but there must have been quite an outbreak of such calamities by 8.30 this a.m. And they were still there an hour later when I came out - so not a desparate toilet stop!
