We are at the park, a little boy just ran up to his mum saying he was going to be sick. She cleared a space for him gave him some water and sent him back off to play in the water!

This isn't right is it? Or am I being seriously misguided?

OlympicTeaDrinker · 25/07/2012 14:37

Probably he might have just had too much sugary food and she was probably expecting him to be sick

Noqontrol · 25/07/2012 14:37

No its not right.

MistyRocks · 25/07/2012 14:37

yanbu,. poor little thing :(

you'd think she'd have taken him straight home.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 25/07/2012 14:38

Was he sick?

I wouldn't have sent mine in the water if they felt sick though.

Olympia2012 · 25/07/2012 14:38

When did that happen? In this heat?

Crimebusterofthesea · 25/07/2012 14:38

In the water?! Lovely, vom floating everywhere then? YANBU - why didn't she stay with him for a bit?

princessofpersians · 25/07/2012 14:38

It may just be something he says. Dd always says she's poorly when she's thirsty or hungry as its an odd feeling in her tummy. Yabu ro pull those pants up so high, especially in this weather.

MammaTJ · 25/07/2012 14:42

If I dragged my drama queen DD away from public places every time she said she felt sick, we would never actually be anywhere. So, not quite as easy to judge as you would think.

StrandedBear · 25/07/2012 14:43

Oh no he was sick, about 3 times. He had a drink of water and then off he went. It's like a water play thing with fountins not actual sitting water (if that makes it better?)

FireOverBabylon · 25/07/2012 14:48

Judge away. I was at the swimming pool with DS yesterday when a girl was sick in the pool and we all had to get out. Pity the poor lifeguard trying to collect, er, chunks in his net.

Just make sure that your children are well away from potentially vomiting boy and can get out of the water when you need them to.

Olympia2012 · 25/07/2012 14:49

Well what would you expect the mum to do?

StrandedBear · 25/07/2012 14:50

Well I would expect her to have sat with her recently vomitted child for 5 minutes and then taken him home.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 25/07/2012 14:51

Olympia - I would expect her to take him home

Olympia2012 · 25/07/2012 14:52

The sickness may have been from travel sickness..... Mine were bad travellers and would throw up up to an hour after the journey

Or may have been heat/ice cream induced

YouOldSlag · 25/07/2012 14:54

Sorry OP, your OP isn't clear that he actually WAS sick. I was going to say YABU, kids often say they feel sick and then are not. However, if he was actually sick, then YANBU and she should have taken him home straight away.

It's unfair on everybody if there is a chance he may be sick in the water.

I don't know, it depends.

Its not great but my ds went through a vomiting phase. It was as if he couldn't measure when he was full or when to calm down, he was constantly running around throwing up and then being fine.

I know its sounds totally bizarre but for about 10 months I was clearing up sick all the time then he stopped. Doctor told me, 'some people just do that' Confused

lisad123 · 25/07/2012 14:57

Sorry but she should have taken him home. It's possible sun stroke or anything else but still.
Where was he sick? It's a bag??

Olympia2012 · 25/07/2012 14:57

It's a park not a pool

The mother made a judgement, maybe their day was cut short but she had other kids to think of too

So bloody judgey over something like this? Hmm
any excuse for a thread

YouOldSlag · 25/07/2012 15:00

LeMarchandsbox- He needn't have something contagious to be taken home.

It doesn't matter WHY he was sick, the fact remains that he could be sick in water that other people are playing in and that would be revolting.

Sick is sick whether it's allergy, food intolerance or something going down the wrong way. You don't want the contents of someone's stomach floating past you. Nothing to do with whether it's D and V or not!!

Olympia2012 · 25/07/2012 15:02

They weren't in a pool though?

Oh yes!

NettoSuperstar · 25/07/2012 15:05

I'd freak out but then I'm emetophobic, so not sure I'm the best person to comment.

Liketochat1 · 25/07/2012 15:07

Yanbu- mum probably didn't want her sunbathing interrupted.
