To expect my new fitted carpet actually be wall to wall, and not 1/3cm from wall to 1/3 cm to the next?

I am not sure what to do really.

I paid upfront for carpets and fitting, and they are not actually going all the way to the skirting!

Should I complain?

YANBU but can I ask if the fitters took the measurements or did you give them?

If they measured then I would complain and ask for it to be rectified.

QuintessentialShadows · 23/07/2012 22:23

They measured.

I first gave them house drawings, and they came to measure. So all in all, they should have enough carpet to make it to the walls.

They did ok on the stairs, a tight fit wall to wall...

Absolutely complain, that's not right!

MsVestibule · 23/07/2012 22:24

In that case, complain, complain, complain and don't let them fob you off!!!

QuintessentialShadows · 23/07/2012 22:25

I will complain. I paid everything up front. Reputable high end shop on the high street. And it was not cheap.

It's their fault, they need to sort it. Or small claims court.

RVPisnomore · 24/07/2012 20:54

Did you complain? How did it go?

JumpingThroughHoops · 24/07/2012 20:55

has it been fitted properly and stretched?

eurochick · 24/07/2012 21:02

Yes, complain.

It might be that your room is on the borderline for a carpet width (most carpets are made 4m wide) and they thought they could get away with it. But in any case, you need a bit more than the width of the room to tuck over the gripper.

If it really is only 1/3 of a centimetre, on a nice warm day, they might manage to stretch that much out of it to get it to fit.

notsofrownieface · 24/07/2012 21:10

This may sound really stupid but is the 1/3 of a cm, for 'give', so as the carpets are walked on hoovered ect they settle?

lapsedorienteerer · 24/07/2012 21:13

Carpetright by any chance?? Not entirely chuffed by my recent carpet laying experience. Carpet is high quality, carpet laying not totally bad but certainly not 100%.

LynetteScavo · 24/07/2012 21:16

Shock I would be Angry - I certainly would complain!
