to want to slap the assistant in Super Drug

IamNotYourLove · 19/07/2012 13:54

for calling me "My love" every other sentence?

Do you want a bag my love.
Enter your pin my love.
Do you want a bottle of water for just 28p my love.

I am not your love.

I am an intelligent ,degree educated professional woman , who wirites for the national broadsheet newspapers, mid 40s, dressed in skinny jeans, converses, nice hair and Bobbi Brown slap.

I am not an old age pensioner who needs patronising.

You, on the other hand, looked no more than 24 and needed a slap.

OP posts:

Clearly the best thing for the op to do is upon entering any shop loudly announce that she is degree educated, writes for a shitty paper, give a quick rundown on which labels she is wearing, which makeup, how nice her hair is.

This will ensure she is not called love again.

Or better yet, employ someone to run into the shop first, and announce she is on her way, rattle off the writer, degree, clothes, makeup bulkshit and then leave.

TheVermiciousKnid · 19/07/2012 16:38

I wonder what exactly the OP writes for 'national broadsheet newspapers'? It's probably only letters of complaint. (She may even live in Tunbridge Wells.)

HarrietSchulenberg · 19/07/2012 16:41

Snigger. Perhaps your middle-aged rack just didn't suit your skinny jeans and converses, whatever they are. You might be referring to Converse, the well known footwear brand. You might be wearing a little too much of the Bobbi Brown makeup. The shop assistant no doubt saw mutton dressed as lamb and felt sorry for you.

And as for thinking that just hacking for the broadsheets is something to be proud of, um, I think not. The pensioner that you think deserves to be patronised probably flew much higher than you before retirement.

Why were you in Superdrug anyway?

Lucyellensmum99 · 19/07/2012 16:42

iamnotyourlove Degree educted journalist? why would you let such a trivial thing irk you then?

I have an aversion to being called love if a man does it, but actually find it quite endearing from shop ladies. Would be a bit Hmm if it came from someone younger than me, but she probably says it to all the old ladies, so maybe you just look older than your age? Grin

RoxyRobin · 19/07/2012 16:42

I thought the Telegraph was the only broadsheet left apart from the Sunday Times.

Do you write for the Telegraph?

zookeeper · 19/07/2012 16:42

YABU. And a silly cow.

pigletmania · 19/07/2012 16:42

Yabu and really up yourself. I have graduate and postgraduate degrees and would absolutely have no issue with that. It's
Opel like you that give women a bad name

Lucyellensmum99 · 19/07/2012 16:42

But to want to slap someone for saying it, is not the behaviour of an educated woman if you want my honest opinion

TribbleWithoutACause · 19/07/2012 16:42

I think you need to get out more my love.
Put those impressive shoes and slap and get angry about something that matters.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 19/07/2012 16:43

She was buying a toners and shaders sachet of hair colour for her good hair

cocolepew · 19/07/2012 16:43

Wearing Converse with skinny jeans is only for the young . Unless you roll the jeans up a bit and pretend you're Doris Day.

Lucyellensmum99 · 19/07/2012 16:44

GaryTankCommander · 19/07/2012 16:44

Are you sure you write for a broadsheet newspaper? Not only do you have spelling/typos and grammatical mistakes... you have also implied old age pensioners 'need' patronising. Why would they 'need' patronising? Do they spontaneously combust if they are not patronised a sufficient number of times during the day?

You sound very superior and self-important. I've not read the whole thread but you need to get out of your own arse and stop being so rude.

cocolepew · 19/07/2012 16:46

I have my 25 meter swimming certificate and I'm still waiting for shop assitants to curtsey. Bastards.

AlpinePony · 19/07/2012 16:47

I'm still laughing at "middle-aged converse-wearing desperate".

But yes petal, yabu.

TBF to the OP, I know loads of journalists whose grammar and spelling leaves a lot to be desired.

GaryTankCommander · 19/07/2012 16:50

Hhhmmm but surely not the BROADSHEET journalists!!! Wink

SoleSource · 19/07/2012 16:50

I have 50 metres cocolepew Stop waiting, it is futile.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/07/2012 16:51

How very dare she. Did you not show her your degree certificate, contract and wage slips?

yellowraincoat · 19/07/2012 16:51

Yes those too.

I find the slagging off of "bad" grammar and spelling pretty tiresome.

GaryTankCommander · 19/07/2012 16:53

Sorry to bore you! Grin

Are you the OP? Wink

cocolepew · 19/07/2012 16:55

Damn you and your extra 25 metres Angry

I have grades 1-4 in my BAGA (gymnastics for all you non sports people). My mum had sewn the badges onto my leotard when I was 10. If I could only find that leotard, Sad imagine the respect I would get.

Charliefarlie1192 · 19/07/2012 16:55

OP you sound rather twattish

manicbmc · 19/07/2012 17:01

So, how about the slagging off of bad attitude and manners?
