I think I might be being a tiny bit U here, but genuinely wondering what others would think.
My husband works for one of the sponsors of the olympic games. Earlier this year his employer ran a competition for sales teams to win tickets to an event of their choice. DH's team worked really hard and did win. However it's all feeling like a bit of a pain now.

Firstly they took two weeks after the day it was supposed to be annouced to name the winners. Then we waited several more weeks to hear from them, and instead of asking us what event we would like to go to, they told us that we would be going on a particular date and that events would be confirmed soon. Since then they've been drip feeding us tiny bits of info. We now know where and when we have to meet in central london and what time it finishes at Hyde Park (which I really couldn't care less about - sounds like corporate sponsor hell the hyde park bit). But nothing about the interesting bit in the middle. Am I being unreasonable to be annoyed about this? My husband says it adds to the excitement, but ot just pisses me off. We know we won't be seeing any athletics because there isn't any on that particular day, and it's a long journey for us to get there, and there's all the security issues which bothers me a bit with us leaving the kids at home, and I just feel like I can't really be bothered now. Also they asked us for our clothes and shoe size. Why would they do that? And why won't they just tell us what is going on???
AIBU????

Yabu. Slightly. Sounds like a surprise is being hatched.

yellowraincoat · 17/07/2012 13:37

Clothes and shoe size...are you sure they're not putting you up for something? Beach volleyball? Shot put? Diving?

You might win a gold and do MN proud.

Surely if it's a Hyde Park finish - it must be the triathlon mustn't it? Which can mostly be seen for free anyway so tickets are pretty pointless.

bagelmonkey · 17/07/2012 13:39

YAB a bit U. It could be fun. Relax

limitedperiodonly · 17/07/2012 13:39

I think you'll be driving a coach.

TheVermiciousKnid · 17/07/2012 13:41

Maybe you will all be drafted in to do security?

VisuallyChallengedFiend · 17/07/2012 13:44

It's probably supposed to be a surprise but YANBU because that would piss me off too. I would rather know what it is, so I didn't bother going if it was something a bit crap...

mrsscoob · 17/07/2012 14:26

YANBU I wouldn't go anywhere near the Olympics if I was given free tickets and accommodation, thought of all those crowds etc makes me shudder plus i'm not interested!

theboutiquemummy · 17/07/2012 14:30

I know you have won the job as security for the DAY

sounds like a surprise to me just be happy and go with it no harm no foul is there

KurriKurri · 17/07/2012 14:39

You will be getting an unofficial Olympic logo t-shirt and insoles.

You will be watching a first round lacrosse match between Vanuatu and The Philippines.

HTH

olibeansmummy · 17/07/2012 18:58

I have nothing to add, but make sure you come back and tell us what it was! Have fun :)

CaliforniaLeaving · 17/07/2012 20:05

I need to follow this one. I can't wait to find out what the surprise is. Grin
I know, I know, he works for coke or other food and you will be dressed in logo clothes and handing out free samples all day!

ooer · 17/07/2012 20:16

Grin at all the suggestions ...!

OP YANBU - if you really don't fancy it couldn't your DH take a friend instead? Then you can be either be green with envy or joyful with relief when you find out what it was, but your DH needn't miss out?
