AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH! My husband is a mentalist

How can I stop my husband 'signing off' phone calls to me with 'all the best!' It makes me want to strangle him! He's older than me and it's usually when he clicks into work mode, or there is someone around that can hear him on the phone, but AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH Sorry, just needed to vent.

Grin - maybe bill him a nice piece of jewellery each time?

RawShark · 16/07/2012 23:00

Sometimes mine is still in work mode and when I ask how he's doing (if I know he's going to have a tough day or anything) he says - "Fine, and yourself?". Makes me laugh though!

StellarforStar · 16/07/2012 23:00

You could repeat something that rhymes with it?

Feather the nest
Call the rest
Wash the vest
Complete the quest- ad nauseum.

Might stop him but if it doesn't you might have fun thinking up your own sign offs.

Gentleness · 16/07/2012 23:00

Well I think it is hilarious that he says this to his wife. Dh is nosing around and can't see why I laughed. So maybe this is a losing battle.

BigHairyFlowers · 16/07/2012 23:02

Grin Stellar

I second a hearty 'Wash the vest' at the end of every phone call!

numbum · 16/07/2012 23:03

Are you me??? I was chatting to him online this evening (he works away) and he signed off with 'Good to chat. Talk soon'. Really? Really?????

numbum · 16/07/2012 23:04

When I say I was chatting to 'him' I mean MY other half not yours Grin

sawseesaw · 16/07/2012 23:04

Leave the bastard!

serengetty · 16/07/2012 23:05

It's nice that he cares :)

Pollykitten · 16/07/2012 23:20

lol numbum!
So glad it's not just an affliction in my household... I thought I'd lost him to CorporateWorld TM

Maybe I should say 'great doing business with you' or something?!

OP posts:
Pollykitten · 16/07/2012 23:21

Fuck it! I think I'll try 'have a nice day!' that should do it...

pookamoo · 16/07/2012 23:22

Ahhh we have "absolutely" all the time from DH. Beginning to grate a bit.

He knows he does it and occasionally he just says "Abso... exactly!" Grin

Vix07 · 16/07/2012 23:24

My XH used to say 'cheers' to me when in work mode. Made me stabby! Angry

QuickLookBusy · 16/07/2012 23:27

When my dh is in work mode he signs off with "take care"

Glad it's not just me who had to put up with this kind of behaviourGrin

Pollykitten · 16/07/2012 23:32

the relationship equivalent of dialling 9 for an outside line when you're at home...

WorraLiberty · 16/07/2012 23:34

Oh that's funny OP Lol!

I now have this disturbing mental image of you two doing the deed in bed and him wishing you all the best before rolling over and going to sleep.

Yes I realise I've taken the scenario a little too far Grin

serengetty · 16/07/2012 23:35

Good to have an endearing habit rather than an enraging one :)

HappyHippyChick · 16/07/2012 23:36

'Good to chat. Talk soon' made me snort! Grin

WorraLiberty · 16/07/2012 23:39

I think I'd answer with "See you anon" Grin

Pollykitten · 16/07/2012 23:40

Worra that is awesome!

OP posts:
singaporeswing · 16/07/2012 23:41

EVERY email I get from my DP ends in "Regards".

Regards.

Seriously?

TheEternalOptimist · 16/07/2012 23:42

Ha.

I wonder if he does it the other way around in work, such as signing off conversations with his boss by saying, "ok, speak to you later, love you".

perrinelli · 16/07/2012 23:44

I need to go to sleep now but keep chuckling about Worra's post - heehee!

Mograt · 16/07/2012 23:44

Happens to me too. My DH finishes off our calls with "Thanks" Confused
Very polite but leaves me feeling like one of his clients!
