to not let bil take ds2 out for the day

ds2 will be 2 next month

bil wants to take him to a scooter rally 2 hours away from us for the day because ds2 likes the scooters and he wants to show him off in his braces and harrington

bil doesnt have any children has never taken a 2 year old out before or spent any time alone with them and is (imo) a bit immature (eg, asking if he could take him for a ride on his scooter on some private land)

im also not happy with him going so far without me

i cant go because i have other young children and we wont fit in bils car,i dont drive and dh will be at work

and its not because i dont like bil because i do, its just that i dont think he realises what a 2 year old is like

aibu?

YANBU but he will never know what a 2yo is like until he is allowed to spend time with one. How about suggesting they spend a day together nearby at an attraction that you know your DS likes, like the park or soft play or whatever, and see how they get on?

YANBU if he has no experience

2yrs sounds too young to enjoy it anyway.

can he change a nasty nappy?...will he feed DC and make sure there is juice or milk...pack a lunch for them maybe...whats the worst that can happen?...if your DS is unhappy...bil will bring home if he can't settle him.

why would you not have trust that uncle was wanting to try to be a good uncle and have a lovely bond with your DS...what does your DH/P say about it all?

arrange for bil to spend an afternoon nearer home first with DS...the trip to scooter show may not be mentioned again...or will go ahead and be great fun for them both
