My ex husbands GF has cut my sons hair!!

SOULofLOVE · 15/07/2012 22:54

I need some opinions on this please!
My ex brought back my sons this morning and my oldest had had all his lovely locks shaved off!! I was close to tears. And then to add insult to injury, the cut was done by his girlfriend.
I feel violated. I know that sounds a strong word but i do. We dont have the best of relationships as it is (he left with no warning when I was pregnant with 2nd son which we had planned, moved in round the corner with the woman he was having affair with, denied pregnancy, didnt see new baby for the first 6 months of his life, and now that the my son is 17 months he is taking me to court for 50 50 custody. He already gets 40% over 2 weeks). So its a very very caustic situation right now. Right in the middle of heated horrible expensive court battles.
This feels like a final straw to me. She knew exactly what she was doing.
What do I do? If i roll over and do nothing it just perpetuates this feeling of my impotance and low self esteem. If I get angry and (do what? i dont know) then all that that achieves is further animosity and negative feelings all round. I feel trapped. and my thoughts escalate out of control and I start thinking I will always live in this ground hog day of spending all my energies fending off these awful situations.
I hope someone has some answers. Sad

If this woman is not a hairdresser I would report her for assault on a child. I feel furious on your behalf.

Sirzy · 15/07/2012 23:44

Report her to who?

WorraLiberty · 15/07/2012 23:46

Viv as much as I feel sorry for the OP.......

How can you report someone for assault when they've cut a child's hair with the parent's permission? Confused

Viviennemary · 15/07/2012 23:46

The police. It's assault.

JumpingThroughHoops · 15/07/2012 23:46

If this woman is not a hairdresser I would report her for assault on a child.

Why? the father was complicit in this. My CM used to own clippers and do my childrens heads (saved me a fortune)

I can see why the Op is upset - but its projection onto a bigger set of circumstances. fixating on a haircut is not the way to be moving on with your life.

KatherineKavanagh · 15/07/2012 23:47

I have committed assault too....x3..... I didn't ask the dc dad!

seeker · 15/07/2012 23:47

People really are insane, generally, aren't they?

WorraLiberty · 15/07/2012 23:47

I don't think this lady hangs out at Nursery gates, pins children down on the pavement and shaves their heads bald whilst cackling in an evil manner....

WorraLiberty · 15/07/2012 23:48

Yes Seeker...yes they are.

Sirzy · 15/07/2012 23:48

Lol "mr policeman, my ex husband arranged for my sons hair to be cut without asking me. This is assault please arrest her"

I am sure the police would take the allegations very seriously! Hmm Grin

KatherineKavanagh · 15/07/2012 23:48

viv I am worried now.... What will happen to me?

Viviennemary · 15/07/2012 23:49

Sorry but this is just sheer cruelty and using a child to get at and upset the OP. It is very wrong in my opinion.

OoOoOoOo · 15/07/2012 23:49

I would be mad but would let it go, it's only hair and it will grow.

Sirzy · 15/07/2012 23:49

Perhaps he simply thought he needed a haircut?

Viviennemary · 15/07/2012 23:50

Help you will all think I'm totally nuts. But I'd be so furious if it happened to one of mine.

Kayano · 15/07/2012 23:51

My bil gets his dd's hair cut by mil. He has just as much right to as you do

KatherineKavanagh · 15/07/2012 23:51

Furious viv, yes you might be.... But what would you actually do?

Kayano · 15/07/2012 23:52

Was it to upset the op? Could have been a bloody hell that hair is getting long sort of thing?

JumpingThroughHoops · 15/07/2012 23:53

Sorry but this is just sheer cruelty and using a child to get at and upset the OP. It is very wrong in my opinion.

This is the Ops opinion. We aren't hearing the EXPs opinion.

If you ran every child rearing decision past your P or ExP you'd get sod all done in life. JMHO. haircut is a hair cut. Fact of the matter the OP doesnt like the haircut, clearly the EXP does. So jury is out.

Assault? Get real.

ExitPursuedByABear · 15/07/2012 23:53

I too would be furious. I appreciate what others are saying but really OP, I would honsetly be feeling as you do.

But there is no solution other than to talk to them.

WorraLiberty · 15/07/2012 23:54

Viv I'd be furious too as the resident parent if I sent my kids to see their Dad and they came back with a drastic haircut no matter who had cut it.

But assault? The Police?

Viviennemary · 15/07/2012 23:55

Well to be honest I probably wouldn't. But I would certainly feel like it. Or doing something. grrrrrr. glad it's not me I'd probably be arrested myself by now. Only kidding.

aquashiv · 15/07/2012 23:58

do nothing]
Whisper in her ear if you EVER and I mean ever pull a stunt like that again and you will be sleeping with t he concreate cockroaches. Or have i been wathcing too much Sopranoes?

paradisechick · 16/07/2012 00:02

Oh please somebody phone the police and report this woman.

Won't somebody think of the children?

shockers · 16/07/2012 00:04

I would be really, really annoyed.

But it will grow back.

However, if you had a boyfriend who was a great hairdresser (or even just an average one), would you ask permission of your ex?

I think that you should stress that communication is REALLY, REALLY important.

I would still feel bloody annoyed though.

Really bloody annoyed.
