Last week before DD (13) went to Germany I spent £100 on new clothes for him. Amogst this was s £25 goody from Burton. He's now home and has admitted he left it in an imax theatre in Berlin. He isn't even bothered and says it was a low quality top anyway. Aibu to make him buy another one, same cost, from his own money?

YANBU

That attitude is really off IMO

SecretPlace · 15/07/2012 17:31

YABU.

I wouldn't make him buy a new one, but I wouldn't buy him one either. If he wants one he can buy one, but don't force him

ilovesooty · 15/07/2012 17:31

I'd say make him pay, but judging by your other thread he seems over indulged anyway.

SecretPlace · 15/07/2012 17:31

But the 'low quality' comment is bloody cheeky, I wouldn't be getting anything for him for a whole!

yellowraincoat · 15/07/2012 17:32

Low quality! Bloody hell!

I'd be asking for my money back.

mumeeee · 15/07/2012 17:32

YANBU. although I would not have sent hi to Germany with brand new clothes.

picnicbasketcase · 15/07/2012 17:34

If he doesn't care enough about his possessions to look after them, and slags off what you've bought him, I'd be quite tempted to tell him he can use his own money for anything else he wants. For goodness sake don't replace it.

BackforGood · 15/07/2012 17:40

Well, I'm not sure where he's getting the money to pay you for it, but I wouldn't replace it. If it's lost, it's lost. It's frustrating, but it's him that will now be without it, not you.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 15/07/2012 17:52

Stop buying him anything until his attitude changes.

Low quality indeed.

Sallyingforth · 15/07/2012 17:54

Dear DS - Sorry it wasn't good enough quality for you. Buy a better one next time - with your own money.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/07/2012 17:58

What Sallyingforth said.

Viviennemary · 15/07/2012 18:24

I was feeling a bit sorry for him when I read the title. But then I read his cheeky remarks about it being low quality. Cheek!!! YANBU. My DS is quite careless with stuff. And has lost quite a few things.

BonkeyMollocks · 15/07/2012 18:28

YANBU.

Maybe he could go and earn some money tomorrow to replace it when he has the day off school. Hmm

Spoilt child in behaving in a spoilt fashion shocker... Hold the front page.

Coming from someone who would pull a sickie if she had been up late the night before and was tired, I can see where he gets his entitled attitude! Let the poor pet have his lie in tommorow and forget about it. YAU

Yes: it doesn't seem coincidental... Hmm
