Maybe everyone thinks its autumn due to the weather...

50ShadesOfGreggs · 14/07/2012 20:47

Fair point...

I think its partly that people are skint and are trying to start preparing early to spread the cost. With all the sales on at the moment its a good time to stock up on cheap stocking fillers and things.

JeezyPeeps · 14/07/2012 20:54

I put my sprouts on about a week ago. I'm hoping they'll be ready in time.

SauvignonBlanche · 14/07/2012 20:59

I was just thinking that, I've avoided them, out of principle, but was dying to answer' AIBU to have wrapped all my Christmas presents', with - No, just sad! Grin

50ShadesOfGreggs · 14/07/2012 21:03

Still, I haven't quite given up on barbecues yet, I can't really bring myself to start dusting off the tinsel!

Anyone with any sense plans anything as far in advance as possible. We have a year's notice of Christmas. I am planning for a party in 3 weeks' time. Plan for anything when you know it's going to happen.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 14/07/2012 21:11

They need to be moved to the Christmas topic though, including this one. Then people can hide them. Christmas can be hugely triggering for many people Sad

Rosebud05 · 14/07/2012 21:12

It's the weather. I'm completely disorientated. On a particular dull evening last week, I thought "It must be time to book the Christmas show" and bought tickets for 'The Snowman'.

I also vaguely wondered why I hadn't seen pumpkins yet, then realised that it was, indeed, July.

AnyFucker · 14/07/2012 21:14

these people need to get a fucking life < grumpy >

MrsHelsBels74 · 14/07/2012 21:15

I've got a baby due in September, can't think any further past that! Christmas may be a bit of a blur this year!

DontmindifIdo · 14/07/2012 21:20

I've given up on Summer, however I'm not quite in Christmas mood, I've just ordered a load of autumnal clothing, that's as far ahead as I'm prepared to go...

yellowraincoat · 14/07/2012 21:22

I don't know but it's pissing me off.

"Saving money" by buying loads of cheap unnecessary bits of tat is a false economy. If I needed to save money, I'd be buying one small present for each person and only buying for close family.

And I'd be buying the presents in December. You know. Christmas time.

StBoniface · 14/07/2012 21:24

Honey But what isn't triggering for some people?

I have no problem with Christmas threads being in the Christmas topic, but not because of that reason. Various things are triggering for me but the world can't stop to avoid me getting upset and spun out.

Bluestocking · 14/07/2012 21:30

I'm with Sauvignon. I've been avoiding those threads because I'm worried I might say something unkind. It does seem odd to buy presents so far in advance - how do you know what people are going to want five months from now? They might have got it already, whatever it is, before Christmas.

Welcometothejingle · 14/07/2012 21:42

Believe it or not, we've got Christmas decs up in the lounge.
I've got a small ceramics business and have spent the past two days photographing stock against a festive background- now have a seasonally confused 4 yr old.

RandomNumbers · 14/07/2012 21:55

I blame QVC

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2012 22:04

QVC Christmas in July has been on my fixture list since (racks brain, 2001).
I always book the day off work for it (apart from last year when DH worked out the leave dates and I missed it) Sad.

Seriously, I love Christmas, it's blardy hard work (not to mention expensive) so I start buying Stocking Filler Gifts round about now . I want nice, useful bits about

StBoniface · 14/07/2012 22:28

When is the QVC Christmas In July? Have I missed it?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2012 22:34

No you haven't missed it.
Usually 25th July, but this year 24th & 25th.

They used to do lots of USA products but now it's mainly stuff on Clearance that they've brought out for the day.
Though I still watch it Blush

Prices Candles, Yankee Candles, some decorations, Christmas Shop, Lori Greiner and Lindy Bowman (mainly USA products) !

RandomNumbers · 14/07/2012 22:34
