To not have a clue how to use the new 'choose your hospital' service

I have been referred to a hospital specialist for a minor ear complaint. I've been sent a form asking me to choose which hospital I want to be seen at - new Government policy etc.

I have no idea how to choose! How am I supposed to know which is best for this specific area?

I'm thinking of going for my nearest one anyway, but I just generally don't understand this new policy and how it's supposed to improve the service I get. Confused

I've not had the option here. We've got 3 within an hours drive and all are the same trust. Very general and failing their inspections but convenience usually outweighs the need for a specialist.

Where can I find info about each hospital's performance? I have 6 within an hour's drive but my nearest doesn't have a great rep Sad
