Argh, yes they all sit in front of TV eating pizza, the babies simply levitate out of their cots and feed, change and tend to themselves Angry

OP posts:
Moominsarescary · 11/07/2012 10:52

But wouldn't it be nice if babies did that

Buttwart · 11/07/2012 10:55

What are they debating? Why are they young mum bashing? What's been said? (no tv access!)

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 10:59

I sit in front of the TV eating pizza and I'm old.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 11/07/2012 11:05

They aren't young Mum bashing, they are discussing the issue of young Mums creating another generation of young Mums. It's a valid topic of discussion.

Why do people on MN accuse anyone who talks about a certain group of people as 'bashing'. Debate about benefits = benefit bashing. Debate about any aspect of disability = Disability bashing.

It's pathetic.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 11:07

Why would anyone watch the Wright stuff anyway? just turn the twat off.

Latara · 11/07/2012 11:09

Best ignore it, turn over & watch House Auction or whatever it's called.
Or put music on instead.

The Wright Stuff is only controversial because no-one would bother watching it if it was all nice plus all TV channels have resident misogynists who should be avoided if you don't want high blood pressure

TroublesomeEx · 11/07/2012 11:10

I agree outraged.

I watched it, heard no 'bashing' and it is a valid topic of discussion.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 11/07/2012 11:11

He is a twat.

Generation of young parents isn't actually a problem if they are good parents.

DH was a father at 21, and so was his dad, and his dad. They've all been well educated with good jobs and are generally good parents and citizens.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 11:11

The Wright stuff doesn't discuss valid topics, only controversial shit.

TroublesomeEx · 11/07/2012 11:12

On a different note, I was surprised how attractive Dan Wright is once away from Big Cook Little Cook and that awful Crash Test Dummies programme (I have insomnia and caught it once in the small hours - I don't watch it!)

TwoIfBySea · 11/07/2012 11:12

If its about that silly woman who said she'd be happy for her dd to have a baby aged 12 as she did then it is hardly young mum bashing. I mean, 12 ffs, who would want their child to be sexually active that early let alone the danger of an immature growing body handling a pregnancy.

Boasting that it'd be fun to be a granny in your twenties is not something to be proud of.

TroublesomeEx · 11/07/2012 11:13

Well I think considering the impact of young/pre-teen pregnancies on the life options/opportunities/aspirations of both the mothers and their babies is valid.

Latara · 11/07/2012 11:13

I am currently listening to Muse.
My friend's nephew likes to run round her flat shouting 'disco' until she plays her R&B Classics or Beyonce & dances with him.
Much more fun for toddlers than the Wright Stuff.

TroublesomeEx · 11/07/2012 11:15

TeWi your husband becoming a father at 21 isn't really what they were discussing though.

Sexually active children and young teens missing out on their education is nothing like a well educated and employed 21 year old choosing to start a family. And even if the 21 year old 'accidentally' became a parent, they are adults and not children.

Moominsarescary · 11/07/2012 11:15

Op I think your last thread about teen mums has seen more teen mum bashing than was on the wright stuff

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 11:15

The Wright stuff wouldn't be my choice of programme for valid discussions

TroublesomeEx · 11/07/2012 11:16

Now that I do agree with usual! Grin

TroublesomeEx · 11/07/2012 11:16

Doesn't mean it's not a valid topic though.

lowfatiscrap12 · 11/07/2012 11:17

I think it is a valid discussion. It is harmful for the vast majority of girls and teenagers to have babies. There are a few who, despite the odds stacked against them, manage to forge out a life and support themselves. But they are the exception. I would be very upset if any of my daughters had a baby before they've lived a life.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 11/07/2012 11:18

If ir was about the 12yo then, that is different then, since 12yos having children are not young parents, but victims of abuse IMO.

I didn't watch it because MW is a twat, as is well known on MN.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 11/07/2012 11:20

It is an interesting-ish topic, but only if you differentiate who you are talking about.

A 19yo in a stable relationship and a job is not at all the same as a 15yo who has no decent support network and will be forced to drop out of school with no qualifications is totally different.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 11/07/2012 11:21

Please excuse mangled responses, very tired and bfing DC2!

Moominsarescary · 11/07/2012 11:22

I had my first at 16, I still managed to finish my education, get a job, go to uni. It is possible if that is what you want.

There were 3 other girls who became pregnant just before me at school. 18 years on they all have good careers and our children are all at college.

FreeBirdsFlying · 11/07/2012 11:25

Hmmm a more valid point of discussion is why the woman who had a baby at 12 dosen't see that she was raped. Has society accepted stat rape as a woops crime? Why is there a lack of outrage that these underage girls are A) sexually active and B) having babies and keeping the father a secret to protect him.

Chandon · 11/07/2012 11:27

If a teenager chooses to be a mum, I hope she also has a plan to support this child and herself, that does not involve any kind of state support.

If not, I am happy to join the bashers
