Skip My DS used to call Ketchup Dip-Dip because my dad got him onto it. You dip your chip, bite it in half and then dip it again. Even that, which was actually quite sweet at the time, makes me ggrrrrrrrr!

My dad was at once of those roadside "cafés" to get a sneaky bacon splash (he is cheating on my mum with pork products :o), and a chap in a suit asked for "Fruit Ketchup", which is what we all call HP sauce now :o

Good god. 'fruit ketchup' and 'red sauce'. So wrong all too often they are just El cheapo substitutes that taste of little other than vinegar and artificial flavourings and are found at lesser establishments--. Good caffs have the real thing. Don't care whether you dip, dunk or splash, it's all good.

Fruit ketchup was just so funny that it has stuck, we say it in faux posh voices My dad is a suit but this chap was a cut above, but as dad said, if he wasnt too posh for a bacon and soss splash at the side of the A50 then he wasnt too posh for brown sauce!
