I bought a birthday present for a 3yo in a couple of weeks. It was peppa pig playing cards and dominos. I left them on the dining table with the birthday card on top of the pile and they have (with Granny's help) played with them! I can get more but I do not want my kids to have more stuff! The house is overflowing.
So shall I do the decent thing and get more, or just tidy them up and give them?

I'd wrap them up and give them, personally.

Really? It doesn't seem mean? It's just mine do not need more stuff!

actually I'd need to check all of them for tears/snot/food smears...maybe not

Yes I was going to say depends on the condition of them. If you know the recipients parents well, you could explain what happened. I wouldn't mind in that case but wouldn't like it from someone I didn't t know well.

Depends on who they're going to. If its a child with a fairly easy going mum then do it, but if you think the mum would be a bit Hmm then I would get a new one

Is the packaging etc still in good nick? If they've been played with once or twice but not damaged, then I'd give them away still.

PurplePidjin · 07/07/2012 08:35

I'd be speaking to Granny to find out why she let them play with something so obviously intended as a birthday present!

ValiumQueen · 07/07/2012 08:48

If they can be passed as new then fine. They would all need to be checked, and the packaging too.

Molehillmountain · 07/07/2012 08:54

Absolutely fine if in mint condition. Should be fine anyway but you know what people are like. I had a run recently of finding brand new items in charity shops and think that's fine too. If you really want to check, think about whether you'd mind. I'd hate to think that someone had felt the need to spend time and money on a new gift just to avoid me going Hmm

I'll check them over and see what they look like, thanks everyone :)
