Everywhere, all around you. They are looking, They're in your office chattering about immigration, they're in your local shop judging a black guy for the amount of money they have in there wallet, assuming criminality. They are possibly even your friends. AIBU in thinking even apologists are racist scum?

OP posts:

Before engaging with OP please read this thread

Says no more

MarigoldsInTheWindow · 07/07/2012 14:15

I hate the fact we still go on and on about wws.

Please, no one likes hearing about it. and most of them involved will have died soon

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 07/07/2012 14:16

Did someone say tea? Can I have coffee? Thanks Worra

Latara · 07/07/2012 14:18

Oh well if OP is bored enough to shit stir & needs something to do; then he can go & make the tea instead.

Latara · 07/07/2012 14:19

And Marigolds can wash up. That's what Marigolds are for Grin

Moominsarescary · 07/07/2012 14:20

marigold what a lovely thing to say!

Nevermind, when they have all died you can just forget about it hey

tethersend · 07/07/2012 14:25

OP, what is your take on the anti-semitism prevalent in some parts of Poland and eastern Europe prior to invasion by the Nazis in the 1930s?

Were the perpetrators of anti-Semitic crimes Nazis?

Indeed, what about any act of racism which occured before the inception of National Socialism?

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 07/07/2012 14:25

It is horrid having to hear about all that nasty genocide isn't it?
It put me off my tea and makes me feel all :(

tethersend · 07/07/2012 14:29

Arf at that thread, Puffin- that one really shook mumsnet to it's very core, didn't it? Grin

tethersend · 07/07/2012 14:32

Oh, and for future reference, marigold- threads with the word 'Nazi' in the title will probably mention WW2 at some point, so best avoid them lest you inadvertently engage with history.

SandraSue · 07/07/2012 14:48

To be fair, OP has a point.

WorraLiberty · 07/07/2012 14:51

I think any point the OP may have had became lost in his ramblings.

I'm still interested to know what "reverse racism" is from whoever said it earlier?

MarigoldsInTheWindow · 07/07/2012 14:57

i know it sounds unkind, but it is really boring.

im sure its not if you were in it, but for everyone else (especially those at school). the endless tv programs, memorials, marching, returning home thingys.

cant we all just move on?

engage with history? im interested in history just not ww1 or www2!

MarigoldsInTheWindow · 07/07/2012 14:58

well they will!

tethersend · 07/07/2012 15:00

Oh dear.

Why on earth would you click on a thread about Nazis if you find WW2 'boring'? Confused

It doesn't sound 'unkind', it sounds absurd.

WorraLiberty · 07/07/2012 15:02

Why would 'we all just move on', because you personally find something boring Marigold?

amillionyears · 07/07/2012 15:04

Marigolds, how old are you if you dont mind me asking.
I found it "boring" up to the age of about 16,because I didnt properly understand it and my dad watched war stuff endlessly, and took it to the point of,wouldnt ever buy anything German or Japanese, which became very difficult from the 80s onwards, when most electronics, cars etc were made by the Japanese and or Germans.
But after then,I realised the sacrifice all those people made,so that we could live in relative peace.

thebody · 07/07/2012 15:05

Op you mix with the wrong people then.

I grew up in Handsworth in 80 s and far far more racist comments then.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 07/07/2012 15:07

You know the op has raised some very serious points, and this is a very serious issue really, and this thread should not be trivialised.

I think you'll find this says my point much more eloquently than I can

LentillyFart · 07/07/2012 15:07

I've just ploughed through this heap of steaming bowel-dump and I'm really not any the wiser. What is the OP actually on about? Anything? Or is it more literary ass-blow?

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 07/07/2012 15:10

literary ass blow dude.

tethersend · 07/07/2012 15:11

Oh Marigold... Did you think the title meant that the OP was fed up of WW2 as well? Grin

MarigoldsInTheWindow · 07/07/2012 15:17

no i just thought nazis- war -world war 1 world war 2.

i do apologise, i know people died and it was awful.

im 26. im sorry! I cant help it!

Psammead · 07/07/2012 15:24

Honey you totally got me. I am going to have nightmares about that link. The horror.

OP does NOT have a point. Racism is to be despised, but to compare people bitching at work to the hell on earth experienced by so many in Germany and various other countries at the time of Hitler is to cheapen that suffering and puts us in danger of forgetting the lessons we learnt. It also, incidentally, does nothing to strengthen ties across Europe which is a real damned shame.

Question and challenge 'casual' racism, support those in power who oppose it, shun those who support it, and educate your children to do the same. But do not compare it to situations where people are dragged from their homes at gunpoints to be taken away and killed by those in power. That only serves to trivialise.

Moominsarescary · 07/07/2012 15:24

Being 26 is no excuse
