To be just a little fucked off with the garage?

DH's car has been leaking I'm a girl, I know sod all about the correct and technical terms some sort of fluid from the engine.

Took it to the garage and a pipe has split.

New pipe ordered and fitted.

Engine still leaking, in fact it's pissing out the fluid.

Take it back to the garage, they fix it again.

It's still fucking leaking today.

Garage has now announced it's not the pipe they replaced that is leaking but -the ' housing unit' that the pipe leads into.

They have damaged it, it's their fault. They can replace it but in doing so, will have to remove the other pipes. When they do, there is no guarantee these pipes will not get damaged, in fact they've pretty much said the pipes will be knackered once removed. Therefore it's going to be a very expensive job relacing them all.

I don't know exactly where we stand. I'm sure they will pay for the new 'housing unit' they did break it after all but what about the new pipes? I think they should pay but the way it was worded they are expecting us to pay!!

I don't want to fall out them, normally they are fantastic and much cheaper than other garages as they don't have massive overheads. They will also fix the cars and let us pay on pay day etc.

DH is going to speak to them and we'll come to an agreement, but AIBU to be mightily pissed off at them??

part and parcel of mechanics, be fair and you will have good service in the future.

YA of course NBU.

I am currently going through something similar. Took car to garage with a problem earlier in the week, they diagnosed and "fixed" the problem. I picked it up, paid the fee and on the journey home experienced EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM as before.

Took it back to the garage this morning. No word of apology, just "leave it with us". I would bet anything that this is going to get complicated and expensive and I am going to be forced to act like a bitch (which I hate and am rubbish at) in order to get something resembling a fair deal.

So. I hope that you come to a satisfactory arrangement with your garage, but I would be prepared to fight tooth and nail for it...

It's enough to make me want to re-train as a mechanic.
