Is fine if no one in your family takes it and it's poison anyway?

Do you really put sugar in bread? I had no idea.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 20:16

That's another Nigella thing hully, you turn the oven on high, then shove some cherry tomatoes and assorted shit in the hot oven, then turn the oven off and leave the tomatoes overnight.

In the morning you come down to cold sore scabs shrivelled tomato things.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:17

OH YUM!

Then put them on your cardboard scrapings?

KneesoftheBee · 04/07/2012 20:21

Are they like sun-dried tomatoes for when there is no sun?

ErikNorseman · 04/07/2012 20:23

You need sugar in bread to get the yeast to work.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 20:24

Yes.

Wouldn't it be lovely to live in a climate where you can just shove tomatoes in the sunshine and they shrivel into themselves.

If I put a load of toms in the garden the foxes will just piss on 'em. And then it would rain. Or HAIL. In JULY.

Fucking england.

TuftyFinch · 04/07/2012 20:26

I hate sun dried tomatoes. Scabs.

KneesoftheBee · 04/07/2012 20:28

Grin @ pissed-on tomatoes.

Go on Nigella, see what you can do with them!

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:28

This is a true story of magic.

One summer we went to Greece for ages and when we came back our allotment was covered in tomatoes! Magic tomatoes wot we hadn't planted! There were every kind: cherry, plum, beef, those OCD ones that grow in perfect pairs, and we realised that it was all the seeds in our compost what dh had chucked about before we went.

Isn't that heartwarming and true magic?

KneesoftheBee · 04/07/2012 20:31

Hully - that is indeed true magic.

Should be made into a Disney film.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:32

It should.

Get the copyright sorted NOW !!

TuftyFinch · 04/07/2012 21:22

The Accidental Gardener.
You could get Monty Don to star. That Countryfile woman could bevy Hully. Or, that Tamsin woman. It'd make a nice little film for C4.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 04/07/2012 22:47

HomeEc is correct - no sirop de gomme, no hangover.

I am very much looking forward to the film version of the tomato miracle: Hullotment Paradiso.

Scheherezade · 04/07/2012 23:19

A bit of sugar is not bad for you. Wierdo.

I occasionally put sugar in tea if I'm feeling cold/tired and need a pick me up. I make banana bread fairly often too, and rice pudding. Both have sugar in. Despite this, my HV tells me DS has one of the best diets she's seen.

Not drinking tea or using sugar does not automatically mean you are better than or of a higher social standing than others, as some posts on here seem to try to be saying. Just makes you sound small minded and pretentious.

Scheherezade · 04/07/2012 23:23

Oooh I forgot, its almost picking season so our kitchen will be over flowing with plums, damsons and blackberries. Crack out the sugar for some pies and crumbles :)

Socknickingpixie · 05/07/2012 00:30

I only buy it when I'm baking or if I remember,I don't use it neither do the kids so often I forget, if builders are around and I have none I just wear a low cut top.
And I don't have a special tomato song

lovebunny · 05/07/2012 00:49

fair. i don't keep sugar in the house.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 05/07/2012 00:55

Sheherezade where the buggery bollocks have you seen anyone infer that sugar - lower social strata?

It's just a daft thread about sugar imo
