Is fine if no one in your family takes it and it's poison anyway?

Rumbletumble? Were you shopping in Balamory?

I know swede is called Rutabaga in the US. And they call chickpeas Garbanzo beans which always makes me laugh

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 18:41

Sugar isn't poison unless you have too much of it.
Artificial Sweetners are poison
Yanbu if you don't take sugar but you should keep tiny packet for when you have guests

imnotmymum · 04/07/2012 18:42

This is making me want to eat cake and I am on a low carb diet I hate you all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cocolepew · 04/07/2012 18:43

I had a google Rumbledethumps its Scottish.

cocolepew · 04/07/2012 18:44

I just had the new Areo mousse. Mint mousse with crunchy chocolate in it. Heaven.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 04/07/2012 18:45

Stuff tea; how on earth do you sugar-refusers make French 75s?

imnotmymum · 04/07/2012 18:49

Now you teasing Jenai ...what is that ???

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 18:54

French 75s sounds very rude and sex like.

Is it 69 with sugar on top?

NarkedRaspberry · 04/07/2012 18:54

I suppose you could carve a melon for Halloween. You'd have to pay out of season prices but it would smell nice.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 04/07/2012 18:55

It's a rather spiffing Champagne cocktail, imnot.

You can use sugar syrup (or sirop de gomme if you're feeling poncey and want a nice bottle on the shelf - although it's only sugar syrup anyway). But then what else is sugar syrup if not sugar?

I drink a Champagne cocktail most days lies

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 04/07/2012 18:56

It has gin in it too. Or brandy.

imnotmymum · 04/07/2012 18:57

OOH I like Janai. I do drink far too much anyway but that sounds more exotic than a Chardonnay !!Wine

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 04/07/2012 19:00

I can confirm that if you have too many of them, you feel quite unwell the following day.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 19:09

See sugar's all right once it's turned to alcohol, so much more civilised.

mmm that is where my low carb diet failing then .......

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 19:19

Nigella's drinks recipes in Kitchen are brilliant. Better than the food.

Mintyy · 04/07/2012 19:21

I actually think its very uptight not to keep sugar in the house. Its hardly crack.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 19:23

It's not being uptight in my case. More likely completely slack and forgetful.

HomeEcoGnomist · 04/07/2012 19:23

That'll be the sugar poisoning, Jenai...

AnnoyingOrange · 04/07/2012 19:25

We use sugar in cooking for chilli and spag Bol and other tomato based sauces

Home made pizza dough

Apple crumble

Moon blush tomatoes

Biscuits and cakes

ohmysilverballs · 04/07/2012 19:29

Not keeping sugar is fine if you want to be unwelcoming and discourage guests.... YANU to not stock different milk to what you normally have as this goes off but a small cheap pack of sugar can be kept for years.....

Haberdashery · 04/07/2012 19:32

You are weird, Hully. I could not live without full fat milk and sugar.

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 04/07/2012 19:32

I don't have sugar in my tea but I do use it in cooking. I also have it on pancakes with lemon and my DH makes those quite a lot.

I can't stand it in tea though. Two sugars in tea is like my worst nightmare...I don't get it. You can't taste the tea!!

TheCunningStunt · 04/07/2012 19:32

I have all the sugars Umami has too. I bake my cake and eat it. You need it for home brew too! And for bread....you just need it ok??!!

Artificial sweetener?? Not that IS poison.

Freaks.....Wink
