I think I've discovered the best Bad Choice of song for a bride and groom's first dance ever...

Not that I have evidence of anyone actually being this stupid, but given that some people really don't listen to the lyrics of songs and just go by the title, can you imagine going to a wedding and seeing the B&G get up to Would you not piss yourself?

I went to a wedding where the first dance was to 'It's my life' by TalkTalk - not the least romantic song ever, but rather confrontational/pessimistic, no?

No idea if they're still together?

JeanBodel · 03/07/2012 21:10

Up The Junction would be a good one.

MrsHelsBels74 · 03/07/2012 21:26

Someone I work with had 'I don't feel like dancing' by the Scissor Sisters. No idea why.

I can confirm one of the worst first dance songs is 'it must be love' by Madness. Not because it's a bad song but because it's impossible to dance to. Chose it at my first wedding as the DJ announced at the last minute he didn't have our choice. So there's video footage of us shuffling around the dance floor in a really embarrassed way!

BelleDameSansMerci · 03/07/2012 21:34

I think it's Breathe by Delilah (one of my favourite songs) but a wedding dance surely?

One of my best friends had Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor... Not exactly the most appropriate but hey.

BelleDameSansMerci · 03/07/2012 21:34

Surely not...

TotallyKerplunked · 03/07/2012 23:24

Mine was "what have I done to deserve this" by the pet shop boys, does that make me odd? Everyone thought it most appropriate, we infuriate each other but know how to laugh at each other as well.

cocolepew · 03/07/2012 23:27

My friend told the DJ to play D.I.V.O.R.C.E as a joke. Her new DH was not amused.

maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour · 03/07/2012 23:31

As one of ours we had good riddance (time of your life) by greenday Grin

whojamaflip · 03/07/2012 23:33

I threatened to walk down the aisle to the theme tune from Jaws but the vicar wouldn't let me

BreconBeBuggered · 03/07/2012 23:42

Tunnel Of Love would be great. Was that Fun Boy Three?

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 03/07/2012 23:57

I have always wanted to go a Wedding where Iron Maiden's Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter was the first dance.

sesameflower · 04/07/2012 00:05

my friend had the theme from doctor who for her first dance. special.

ComposHat · 04/07/2012 00:05

I have half jokingly suggested 'Gang Bang' by Black Lace (from Rita Sue and Bob too) for our first dance.

ComposHat · 04/07/2012 00:07

I think we will compramise on the theme from the hit 80s sitcom Brushstrokes.

out2lunch · 04/07/2012 00:22

we had fight the good fight as a hymn

vicar said he supposed it was ok if we were on the same side Grin

solidgoldbrass · 04/07/2012 00:28

Whoops, sorry if I fucked up the link, it was Heart: All I want to do is make love to you. Which is a song about shagging a random to get PG because her husband has no willy, or something. But I have heard of people having to be gently talked out of having the likes of Beautiful by James Blunt (the song's about how he's goign to kill himself cos he can't get the burd.)

bogeyface · 04/07/2012 01:04

What about "Bad Boys" by Wham? "Death by matrimonyyyyyy .... bam bam bam bam bam....." :o

bogeyface · 04/07/2012 01:04

"A daddy by the time you're 21
If you happy with a nappy
Then you're in for fun...." :o

solidgoldbrass · 04/07/2012 01:24

OK rules - it's got ot be a song that people might just not have listened to properly. Otherwise everyone could win by suggesting Cannibal Corpse.

Thumbwitch · 04/07/2012 01:42

Every Breath you Take is another one - sounds so romantic and dreamy until you listen to the STALKER lyrics!

DH (jokingly I think ) wanted to have Ronan Keating's "you say it best when you say nothing at all" - in other words, STFU woman. I disagreed vocally. We nearly went with Huey Lewis and the News - "happy to be stuck with you" - which is more appropriate but still not great! had Blue Moon in the end (also not that easy to dance to!)

bogeyface · 04/07/2012 02:36

I wanted H to sing Mack the Knife as part of our entertainment as he does swing really well and I love that song. It was suggested that a song about a gangster killing someone and chucking them off a bridge in a bag of concrete might not be appropriate, so we nixed it :o

bogeyface · 04/07/2012 02:38

I did go to a wedding where the first dance was a surprise from the groom and was "isnt she lovely" by Stevie Wonder. Which is really nice, until you listen to the lyrics and realise he is singing about his new daughter! I was a bit Hmm when it was on Scrubs from Turk to Carla too!

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 04/07/2012 02:54

There was a long "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston phase, which wasn't really appropriate as it's about how they can't be together.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 04/07/2012 02:55

My sister had that Shania Twain one about how everyone thought it wouldnt last but they've proved them wrong

"But just look at us holding on" etc

........they split up 18 mo later. Not good.

bogeyface · 04/07/2012 03:00

My cousin had that one Richman much to my sisters disgust as she had chosen it for her wedding a couple of months later.

My cousin was divorced within 2 years and my sister (who had another Shania song, something about "from this moment on") is still happily married 13 years later.
