Did this happen to someone else or its just me?I ordered form Vertbaudet online and paid £77.60 for my order by debit card and money left my account immediately. They then deducted £40.30 for the same order 7days later and still had not received it.I called them and I spoke to a very rude woman who kept denying that they had not taken the money twice and my bank had already confirmed it was them.I sent them emails when i was very upset and guess what? The money mysteriously appeared back into my account the next day.I never got an apology and I thought it could have been one of those mistakes.Eventually I received the order but it was in bits.As they were saying some of the things were out of stock but they only tell you this immediately after you have ordered not like other shops like Debenhams,Next,M&S etc where they wont take your money if they don't have stock.
Last week I saw some baby stuff I really liked and decided to order and they have just done it again! They've taken more money from my account for the same order!Even though I once again paid £46.70 by debit card when ordering and money left my account immediately. Today a further £20.35 left my account for the same order.I have emailed them and am waiting to see whats their excuse this time if anyone bothers to contact me.Last time I almost got charged by my bank for going over my account coz if i had not checked my balance that day & I didn't have money in my savings I could have been in trouble. Luckily today i had enough money in my account but if i had plans i could have been short. Its really annoying and frustrating and I have now decide not to ever buy from them again.

I ordered stuff from them over a year back, it took so bloody long to arrive and then was damaged & customer service were so bloody rude, that I've never touched them again. Even though I always like stuff in their catalogue & discountsthat I've been plagued with ever since , as I'm a 'valued customer' (my arse)Angry

Whoneedssleepanyway · 03/07/2012 11:25

Something similar happened to me with Next Directory. I ordered on-line and they required payment to be made up front which I did with my credit card but they then also added the items to my Next credit account...when I rang to query they didn't quibble and adjusted my account but slightly concerning why this happened in the first place.

Verbaudet sound awful.

JimbosJetSet · 03/07/2012 11:32

I hate Vertbaudet too - I ordered one item from them a year ago, and then asked for my account to be closed and to be taken off the mailing list, and the amount of junk mail I get from them has only just started to reduce. Def not worth the 20% off or what ever initial offer suckered me in in the first place!

Ciske · 03/07/2012 11:40

Def not worth the 20% off or what ever initial offer suckered me in in the first place!

Vertbaudet always have an offer on - they send me 2-3 codes a week. I never buy anything there unless the discount is at least 40%. I do like their stuff, it's good quality, and customer service has been never an issue.

annh · 03/07/2012 12:37

Gave up on them long time ago. I think their delivery times are better now than they used to be but their discounts are baffling. They still send me offers every week but I almost never managed to take advantage of them because I would choose three (or whatever) items from the collection, then only when I go to the checkout would I find out that something was out of stock and so I didn't have enough to benefit from that particular discount. I also had problems with keeping track of payments which they seemed to take in dribs and drabs and which made it impossible to ensure that you were actually benefitting from 20% off your second item or buy one get one half price or whatever the offer was.

Yama · 03/07/2012 12:40

I fell out with them a few years ago. They could have resolved my issue very cheaply (was merely a point of principle) but chose not to.

I would never order from them again.

ceeveebee · 03/07/2012 13:23

I use them a lot and have never had a problem. I have an account so perhaps the problem is with their credit card payments but not their accounts? Agree never buy anything at full price from them though.

5Foot5 · 03/07/2012 13:27

Oh god how can a company this bad stay trading for so long?

My DD is 16 now but years ago when she was just a toddler I bought things from Vertbaudet a couple of times and then just decided never again. The delays and delivery times were just a joke. Not untypical to be told that you had to wait 4-6 weeks. I once ordered a little coat and it took nearly 12 weeks!! At the age DD was then that could mean she had nearly grown out of it by the time it arrived.

FarloRigel · 03/07/2012 13:52

Maybe I've been lucky but I've never had that kind of issue. A few things have taken a while to come but otherwise we've had great service and lovely clothes for DD.

dementedma · 03/07/2012 13:54

I was a customer for over 20 years till recently when the DCs all were too big! never had any problems I have to say, and their stuff is good quality.
Most problems we've had is with bloody H&M!!

KindnessofStrangers · 04/07/2012 11:20

I have just ordered items for my DS for holiday. I've just received a quarter of my clothes, half are delayed and the other half are cancelled due to lack of stock. I would have presumed that 'lack of stock' would have shown up when placing the order! They are unable to give me even an estimated date for delivery for the other items, which is of course most helpful.
I also don't get their 'voucher' systems, I had a £15 off voucher and so they deducted a shared percentage off each item rather than total, minus the saving, which makes no sense to me at all.
I've just spoken to customer service who assured me this never usually happens but from these previous post clearly it does. They have said they will 'try' to cancel the rest of my order but from the level of service so far I will fully expect to be charged and receive no items!

tablefor4 · 04/07/2012 11:27

They have got a bit better recently. My last orders have all come within a couple of days, whereas previously had been weeks. I do like the clothes, I think that they are good quality and more interesting than lots of the UK high street stuff.

That said, the discounts/offers only work on non-sale, non-Happy Price items, so it's a bit of a test at the end whether you've reached the magic number. Finally the volume of mail and email I get from them is incredible. Half a rain forest it seems.

julesone · 06/07/2012 13:08

GreenEggsAndNichts · 06/07/2012 13:10

Hate them. Placed an order with them, returned the items but the returned money is sitting in an account with them somewhere, as far as I can tell. I will never shop with them again.

zlist · 06/07/2012 13:11

I remember having a similar kind of issue with them about 8 years ago, cannot remember what exactly but they messed my order and payment up in some way. I haven't shopped with them since.

Decameron · 06/07/2012 13:18

I haven't received my last three orders, despite receiving order confirmations, the orders were deleted from my order history and never received. I used to buy a lot from them for my DDs, would never use them again. I have contacted customer services, they told me to reorder. I did and it was wiped again. I'm going back to Boden.

cleanandclothed · 06/07/2012 13:24

Interesting to know I am not alone. I quite like their stuff, especially in the sale or with the constant discount vouchers BUT the ordering process is awful, they refuse to deliver to a work address which puts me right off, and I have never had a full order from them - things are always cancelled. Which given the price of postage makes me really cross - if I have to pay £4 or whatever for postage then I may think it is worthwhile if I am ordering 8 items, but if 4 of them don't turn up then it bumps up the price of the stuff I have bought.

cornflowers · 06/07/2012 13:37

I ordered some things from La Redoute/vertbaudet a few weeks ago, all bar one of the items delivered were the wrong size, money was coming out of my account in dribs and drabs, total nightmare. I complained to customer service and was sent a discount voucher - what a thrill - just like all the other discount vouchers they bombard my inbox with on a weekly basis. Worse, when you actually attempt to use the vouchers, you find that a sneaky array of terms and conditions means they're rarely valid on any items you actually want to buy.

Scaredycat3000 · 06/07/2012 13:45

Sounds all to familiar, over the last 4 years. How long does it take your I.T. dept. to resolve these issues? I'm sure they would love to know they are being blamed, even for rude customer service! Yes to ordering goods that aren't in stock, yes to delivery taking so long I was almost in labour before my maternity clothes arrived, yes to discounts being taken off very oddly, yes to being bombarded with e-mails (including that fake e-mail about a mistake with my, non-existant, order, then the apology discount that some of us got) and post. The clothes are nice, but combine the tiny sizes and the long delivery, my 91st centile babies, even though I allowed for their size, had often outgrown the clothes by the time they arrived Hmm

Trioofprinces · 06/07/2012 16:21

I have got good stuff from them in the past buts several years ago they sent my order to my old address, so obviously I didn't get it and it was returned. They then erroneously opened another account for me at the correct address (despite having had it for over a year already). End result was that I finally got my goods a few months later.

I thought that was the end until I received a debt collector's letter for the princely sum of about £30 threatening bailiffs and court if I didn't pay up. Had no idea what it was about so phoned debt collector, who said it was verbaudet but they couldn't tell me anything else. Verbaudet couldn't tell me as the file was archived and 'in the hands of the debt collector'. It ended up taking about six months to clear it all up and surprise surprise I didn't owe them a penny.... But big hassle and many letters to and from to sort it out.

ceeveebee · 06/07/2012 16:54

I must be a special customer then, I have never had any problem with orders, delivery, payment - I spend c£100 per month with them since the twins were born and its all been fine

BarredfromhavingStella · 06/07/2012 18:02

Arghhhh-I'm very annoyed with them also, ordered a product that stated would be in stock on 26th May-it is now 6th July & still not received what I ordered!!! Angry

Also the sizes come up VERY small.

Have decided I am definitely not ordering from them again.

poppy283 · 06/07/2012 19:33

God they sound awful! I've never ordered from them but have some hand me downs and second hand bits, and the sizing is absolutely ridiculous, eg Dd outgrew a 24m playsuit t about 10 months old.

Bigmerlin · 06/07/2012 19:44

Used Vertbaudet once, wouldn't ever order from them again. They sent me someone else's order entirely, I spent half an hour on the phone trying to sort it out, then they expected me to wait in for their courier to collect it. I told them I'd put it behind my bin which is where they'd left it, but no, that's not allowed. Two weeks later my order turned up. Two days later another full set of my order turned up, and I was billed again. Once that was sorted out, I was getting junk emails daily, so I have blocked them.

Katiekitty · 06/07/2012 19:57
