To look at my small quiche and get a lump in my throat?

It's a small quiche because there's only me to eat it. DS is away on the school trip (a week in an adventure centre.) I thought I would enjoy having a bit of peace and quiet and eat various things that DS doesn't care for - he does love quiche, but not the sort with asparagus in.

Boohoo.

Oh sgb.

I hate it when dd goes away, and she is 16, so she goes away a lot. I find I don't even bother to cook anyway, and live on houmous and doritos and assorted crap.

serin · 02/07/2012 19:37

YANBU, both my DS's are away with school for the week.
It is way too quiet Sad I have felt a bit emotional all day but put it down to having to get up at a ridiculous hour this morning to get them ready.

Thankgodforcaffeine · 02/07/2012 19:41

I thought you meant MN quiche at first.

And that you didn't have many friends.

:o

My boys are away this week (school holidays in scotland) and I thought I would enjoy the peace and quiet and eating more adventurous food. It was too quiet to enjoy my seafood paella.

I thought this was another bloody FB group, quiche thread I have no friends. However, since it is food and DC related... YANBU.

solidgoldbrass · 02/07/2012 21:12

I should have remembered last year that this is the bad part of the day - between about 5pm and about 9 pm I would normally be doing tea, do-your-trumpet-practice, all-right-you-can-watch-Blockbusters, bath, reading, bed... the house is silent. Even the foxes down the garden have shut up.

Maybe I will get on with some badgemaking and put MTV on for a while...

I was expecting a quiche of the mn variety too Grin

Yanbu, I paid for ds's first residential the morning, he is only 7. I actually felt sick. I have only had two nights away from him ever (and that was to give birth to dd).

[clingy emoticon]

Trills · 02/07/2012 21:14

YAB very soppy :)

mayaswell · 02/07/2012 21:18

random my friend went to China and he didn't see one person giving or receiving a Chinese burn.

Cremolafoam · 02/07/2012 21:18

Oh Sgb I feel for you. Last year I went on hols by myself while dh took dd to a music festival. I wept for two days until I got a grip of myself and opened the wine.
Feels weird tho- being aloneGrin

MammaTJ · 02/07/2012 21:21

I expected to not have a clue what this is about too, but I do!! I reeeeeaaallly do!!

It is hard when DC fly the nest little by little!! But you need to GET A LIFE!! Not meant in a mean way but if you get a life of your own it won't be so sad or hurt so much!! do your own thing!! Enjoy!

solidgoldbrass · 03/07/2012 19:04

Am OK really, nice day today over at my friend's house working on the website and catching up on the gossip. And I have wine Grin.

Put on inappropriate music and dance to it! That cheers me up when I'm the only one home Grin

tethersend · 03/07/2012 19:29

Have two quiches.

Hey presto! Problem solved.

BertieBotts · 03/07/2012 19:36

You mean I'm spending all this angst at the moment wishing desperately for some time to myself and when it does actually happen I'll be a gibbering wreck then too?

Pah! Children ruin everything Grin

TheCrackFox · 03/07/2012 19:47

Yup

Day 2 without the boys and I am officially bored stiff. They are having a whale of a time with grandad. Sigh.

StealthPolarBear · 03/07/2012 20:01

Blockbusters? Have we travelled back to the 1980s? Can't still be on, surely

stubbornstains · 03/07/2012 20:05

BertieBotts My thoughts precisely.

solidgoldbrass · 03/07/2012 23:24

SPB: (as DS dad and DS would say) Don't Yew Know Nuffink? Blockbusters has been revived on the Challenge channel, with Simon Mayo hosting it.

Anyway, here is the document that DS left on the computer before he went. I have not had to correct any spelling or typos on there. That's my boy.

(Waaaaaaa!)

7 things for Mummy to do while [DS] is at [school trip venue]
1.Take photographs
2.Go on walks
3.Have half [DS]?s pocket money *
4.Look sweet
5.Check blogs
6.Chat to Nana
7.Er? that?s about it
Have a great time Mum(I?ll miss you)

*Don't know where that came from, he doesn't actually get pocket money.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 05/07/2012 13:53

Lol at look sweet :) how are you getting on? Have you had to call and tell him you miss him yet?

solidgoldbrass · 05/07/2012 17:29

Doing fine really. Have been clearing out the boxroom and catching up on work and taking billions of sold books (wahay) up to the post office every day.

And he's home tomorrow Grin

Blockbusters? Really, where?

Bob is dead isn't he?

Can I have a P Bob?

ah - fond memories.

YANBU - I rarely cook for DH and me when DD is not in.
